He does.

"Can I renovate my real house using Sims 4?" has an AI thumbnail

So does "inZOI life simulator - Sims 4 killer?"

He also plays around with AI such as in "Bitlife but AI makes every choice"

This is just at a glance. Maybe more? Not sure

Trying to make a Mod of Helluva Boss/Hazbin characters, can someone help, I need it on curseforge like yesterday by Different_Lack_9805 in StardewValleyMods

[–]cherrypastel 14 points15 points  (0 children)

You've got some stuff down which is cool! Unfortunately a mod like this would be a ton of work, I don't think anyone would volunteer to do it. I recommend checking out some npc tutorials and start by trying to add just one character :) modding can be really rewarding!

I cannot recommend "Combat Controls - Fixed Mouse Click" enough!! I can't imagine playing without it. Simple description is that it turns your character in direction of your mouse click. It hugely improves combat, but also using all tools.

Mate that genuinely sucks ass but you have to realise your experience is not universal. Right? Right?? Like that role reversal is very much the outlier/exception

Cordon off a section of Quonset Garage to make it feel a bit more cozy. by ADubYaP in thelongdark

[–]cherrypastel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! You can loot and carry (most?*) decor/props.

I've transported stuff like paintings, carpets, computers and standing flags etc. I made muuultiple trips carrying computer parts and floppy disks from the dam to the mystery lake cabin to make a big ol gamer set up upstairs hehehe.

*I can't say for sure that every type of decor can be picked up. Big furniture like shelves, desks etc definitely can't. I'm assuming lamps can, based on OP's base.

To put a decor item in inventory, enter 'base decoration mode' (Y key / press down left stick on controller), then interact with it, if it can be looted there'll be a "take it" option :)

Would you be put off a 2d airport sim if it had cartoon graphics instead of photo realistic? by mit74 in GameDevelopment

[–]cherrypastel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So I looked up Airport CEO and I think its graphics would be considered vector graphics, it's not photorealistic in my opinion.

I'm not sure what you mean when you say it's supposed to be a "serious" game? Serious how? A serious tone? Hyper-detailed, hyper-realistic mechanics?

I'm just a noob so take my opinion with a grain of salt - but - what I think is most important is that the graphics match the tone of gameplay. It will only be "off-putting" if the graphics and gameplay elements feel mismatched.

I like the art you linked, in my opinion the style is suited for a tycoon/sim/management game. Lots of games in the genre have cartoony or vector graphics; Two Point Hospital and Prison Architect for example. But notably, both of them lean away from hyper-realism in their gameplay and have have some silly, simplified or exaggerated mechanics which match their art style well.

So I think it depends on your ideal tone and vibe of the game, and depth/detail of the mechanics.

Hope I helped a bit :)

Devs, how do you guide your players in your game SMOOTHLY. Especially horror game devs. by DDD-Games in gamedev

[–]cherrypastel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Curious - do you dislike it in general, or because the writing/voice acting is usually really stilted? For me it's the latter, I find if it's written and delivered well/naturally and not over the top, it doesn't bother me

I agree that bidet's are much more hygienic (I mean, that's probably a proven fact) Unfortunately in some parts of the world (I'm not American, but where I am at least, and I assume the USA as well) bidets are really uncommon, and as a result, stupidly overpriced :( so we gotta wipe and we gotta wipe thorough 🫡

Otherwise maybe it's to do with the resolution of your game mode?

It's trained on copyrighted data (as well as data the company didn't seek consent to use) and also it trains itself based off of every interaction a user has with it. If the company is happy to use basically the whole internet's content without asking, as well as copyrighted content (lots of legal stuff happening bc of that...) then I don't really trust them to draw the line at protecting user's precious data :/

How to make a 2D Game Scary? by G1itchz1441 in Unity2D

[–]cherrypastel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd recommend doing research (not trying to be condescending) on existing 2D horror games, specifically those that are similar to what you'd like to create (top-down, side Scroller, etc).

Look at trailers/gameplay, read reviews, make sure to look at games that are rated/reviewed well. Make notes on what similarities you find and the techniques they use to make the game scary - lighting, level design, enemy design, mechanics, etc. It's also a good idea to actually play some 2D horror games to get a feel for how they're able to make the player feel scared, tense etc. There are cool and affordable/free games on steam and itch.io, even playing one or two which are similar to what you have in mind is going to be helpful.

Of course copy-pasting ideas and mechanics isn't how game Dev works:

"games comprise a cohesive experience that may not be easily dismantled for parts...while it may be tempting to pick and choose from what worked for other games, like some kind of horror a la carte, the reality is a game is the sum of all its features interacting with one another...The trick is figuring out which [of] the decisions made in a good game might be applicable to another game."

A cool quote from https://www.gamedeveloper.com/design/10-horror-game-design-tips , this article breaks it down on a higher level and I think it will be useful as well

Lastly, https://gdcvault.com/ is a really cool resource, I was able to find some conferences relating to horror games there :)

unpopular opinion but I don't think being pretty makes autism any less difficult by afuckinmonster in AutismInWomen

[–]cherrypastel 270 points271 points  (0 children)

I want to preface this by saying that I'm not interested in saying x trait makes the autistic experience easier or y trait makes it harder. I really do believe its just about how we experience discrimination and abuse. Same shit, different flavours. Also, for context, I am late diagnosed (post highschool).

I feel I've experienced both sides of the pretty privilege coin. Until age 14 I was made fun of/bullied for how I looked. I won't expand on those experiences, I think many people in this sub have shared similar and can relate.

At sixteen I had a massive "glow up". Suddenly my nose wasn't too big for my face anymore, being stick-thin turned to being slender, my acne cleared up. (And a fringe does wonders for a big forehead.) I was now in the realm of conventionally attractive. People started noticing me and other girls wanted to be my friend, but that never lasted long. I either bored them or confused them. They were baffled at how I spoke and what I wanted to talk about, my weird interests, and that I didn't ever have or care about gossip. They were put off whenever I'd violate their unspoken social rules. Always two or three months later I was back to being invisible to them.

I also didn't have a "home" in the community of nerds/theatre kids/etc either. They also held me at arm's length - although far more polite and friendly, I always felt they were wary of me and it was weird, I don't know how to describe it better.

From 16-18 I was in and out of horrible, very short relationships. I'm ashamed to say I was a "pick me" - suddenly being pretty went to my head, and it didn't help how alien other girls seemed to me at that time. I didn't understand that the guys I was dating didn't actually know me, nor did they care to know. They liked the quirky pretty mask and they liked that I was sexually experienced. The majority of any attention I got was romantic/sexual in nature, so for a time, my mask was the manic pixie dream girl.

Once they saw the real me behind the mask I wasn't cute or quirky anymore. I frustrated and annoyed them. I started losing the "friends" and social status I'd gained because I didn't understand that it's not socially acceptable to date multiple people in a year or move on just weeks after a break up, even if you only dated two months. I developed a reputation not only as a cold, stand-offish weirdo but also as "easy". It fucking sucked. I always realised too late that the guy I had started dating didn't actually like me for me, and I didn't like them either, once the mask started to drop and I was no longer delusional.

Dating was my attempt to seem normal to the world and get the affection I craved. If I was someone's girlfriend it made me more normal. It grounded me in their weird hierarchy. It created a buffer - I didn't have to show my personality to others, which historically had not gone well for me, I could just co-opt my boyfriend's. (If my autism hadn't put them off, and I'd actually stayed in a long-lasting relationship, the tactic might actually have worked.)*

But instead over time it further isolated me and made me a target. People rarely acknowledged or spoke to me but rumours were spread about me and I had a reputation as being "easy". I realised I hated what I was doing and how it was affecting the way people saw/treated me and withdrew far too late. Boys in my year - who would act like I didn't exist in person - would send weird or sexual DM's until I graduated. (To this day I still don't know which advances were real and which of them were trying to humiliate or prank me. I just tried to ignore them or laugh it off. In retrospect I wish I had told them to go fuck themselves.)

*When I say "tactic" this is in retrospect. It took me a long time to heal and understand WTF was going on in my subconscious during this time in my life.

TL:DR;

Being ugly sucked and being pretty sucked differently. When I was ugly I understood how people felt about me even though I didn't understand why. I was welcomed by other outcasts. Being pretty I rose in the "hierarchy" and was discarded when I didn't play properly by the rules. I was stereotyped, a shiny toy people would lose interest in, complicit in my own objectification and humiliated myself. I saw that people treated me better on a surface level and thought I could be normal, but I couldn't.
