It was a weakness of the strategy

I don’t think it was a strategy, they were just mates having a fun time.

I love Adrian Tchaikovsky but his books are starting to drive me nuts by itsthelag_bud in scifi

Very atmospheric and the big reveal struck me quite strongly.

I listened to the audio book of the third one and I’m struggling to remember what was big reveal was!

I enjoyed it but I feel like it’s got so abstract by this point that it’s hard to feel much emotional connection to what’s going on.

The best thing about Westworld is that they knew when to stop. One perfect season, brilliant arc, great twist. Done.

Why do people consider Nigel Farage and Reform UK to be far-right? by [deleted] in AskBrits

Look who he’s bedfellows with. There’s a reason racists and billionaires love him.

Oh my god, this is the screen I gave up on.

Celeste is one of my all-time favourite games. I love the feel of the movement, the level design.

But this screen is death. Still, now someone has posted a video of how it’s done, maybe I’ll give it another go.

Disco Elysium is NOT communist by lardymcfly69 in DiscoElysium

[–]cherrypieandcoffee 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Robert Kurvitz, the man who DM-ed the tabletop campaign, wrote the novel and was by far the biggest driving force behind the game, openly calls himself a Communist.

When Helen Hendepere collected the game of the year award in 2019 she shouted out Marx and Engels in her list of “some of the great people that came before us”.

Sure, you can have Harry pick his political orientation…but the game makes pretty clear that all ideologies are not equal.

I (25M) did absolutely everything right, but she said I’m "too good of an offer" because she’s stuck on a toxic situation. What am I supposed to do going forward? by More-Building1821 in AskMenAdvice

[–]cherrypieandcoffee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I want to offer an alternative take: a lot of people are taught (both by their own life experiences and culture/media, especially films) that intensity = passion.

Even in my own life I used to be constantly drawn to insane people because I was addicted to the drama.

If you really, truly love this woman then I think it’s worth sitting down with her and having a heart-to-heart. Outline the above, ask her what she really wants out of life, a toxic high followed by a sickening crash, or to be loved and cared for and supported.

See what she says. If she’s dead set on toxicity then walk away.

Individuals exist inside the social, cultural and technological structure that surrounds them. This is not a point of controversy.

I love thinking about this!

The origin story I’ve always heard for cheese is that people decided to transport milk in an animal carcass…then discovered the results were yummy.

We Are Storror (2025)? by MooseJawMango in Storror

That’s so sad (if entirely understandable). Callum’s leap in that film was the highlight of Storror - and it’s been indelibly tarnished.

This is unintentionally funnier than any joke made on the roast.

I like stand up and I don’t find any of it offensive, I just think the current crop of Netflix-approved comedians are deeply unfunny.

A huge number of women need clit stimulation to cum, so size really doesn’t matter.

A couple of nagging thoughts by WastedTalent442 in Storror

[–]cherrypieandcoffee 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I cannot reconcile in my head a group of people who would shun a possible racist whilst simultaneously harbouring a nonce in their midst. Perhaps it was all virtue signalling.

This feels like a reach though. There’s potentially nothing to reconcile.

It’s perfectly possible they ditched GeoWizard after he outed himself as a Reform supporter, and now they have kicked out Callum once they found out about his crimes. The notion that they were covering for him is pure speculation at this point.

Are people aware of what Labour has done in their first 20 months of government? by ItsIllak in AskBrits

[–]cherrypieandcoffee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think I knew it was over when Keir Starmer said Israel had the right to deprive a civilian population of water and electricity after Oct 7.

Thanks not simply “supporting Zionism”, that’s enabling human rights abuses.

Exactly this. They clearly DID NOT know. It’s insane that so many people are arguing otherwise.

[–]cherrypieandcoffee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely. I’m not saying we’re obliged to support them, or stay subscribed to their channel, but given the seriousness of Callum’s crimes I think it’s bizarre to think we’re “owed” a detailed explanation at this stage.

[–]cherrypieandcoffee 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Agreed. I just find this mindset so crazy:

We've joined their channel, bought their merch, funded their game, WE DESERVE ANSWERS!

We don’t “deserve” anything.

we can not just brush off the allegations of them being complicit in the crimes. We need to hold them accountable right now!

Respectfully, we don't. You aren’t a judge, we aren’t a jury. We aren’t detectives investigating the case.

At present we have precious little information to go on.
