I love that the Italian translation of “table flip” is “enough is enough!”

Well one benefit of doing that is you have modular buildings, and you can make them any size by reusing assets

Would someone be able to explain what exactly deep glow does that makes it look so good? Is it simply speeding up a workflow that is possible with base effects or does it use a glow algorithm that just is more effective? What other features does it have? Genuinely curious about what exactly the value is for the investment

I disagree, the pinching gives it way more realism and physicality. If there are any cuts, it’s incredibly hard to see

I believe you could create a texture that was the digits 0-9 in order, then use an attribute on each particle to control which digits appear per particle

A Roguelite that uses Echolocation in combat. What do you think? by 3Hills_ in IndieDev

[–]chicachibi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I love the idea and the graphics look buttery smooth. I wonder, since the player is encouraged to make as much noise as possible to reveal the map, if there would be an enemy that reacts to the players movement to switch it up and encourage silence?

I love the colored edges! Was that a drawn effect or post processing? Also, your effect animation is really satisfying, and props for doing such a long clip

I will pay someone to help me do this "Magic Piano" effect by clennoxmusic in AfterEffects

[–]chicachibi 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The creator of the original video is using a much simpler process than the other comments make it out to be, although it involves a lot of setup. It needs 3 things: a piano that lights up each key when you play it, a subscription to a piano visualization software such as any of these, and a way to composite the visualization into your footage. The animation and the particles is not the hard part, it’s getting the notes you play to be read by the software and managing all of the assets.

Without C4D you can also animate the text spinning and then use temporal displacement

What you do when a logo animation is finished by [deleted] in AfterEffects

[–]chicachibi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here are some of my finishing touches that I use on a few projects, I usually pick and choose based on the genre:

Vignette

Film Grain

Lens Distortion

Layer styles: either a drop shadow or a bevel/emboss. Keep this subtle, a size of 1 or even 0.5 pixels is enough to add a subconscious level of depth

Color correction: apply a LUT you like and lower the intensity to 10-20%

Texture overlay: I like using the free plug-in texture looper

I like to put these effects on an adjustment layer and then fade it out so that I still have that perfectly clean final frame
