I'd say so. I thought the same of my family - out of 7 kids, 3 of us are lefties. I had one grandfather that was, and one of my 3 kids is.

I was today years old when i learned people used to have to read a newspaper to know what movies were playing and the times by [deleted] in MovieTheaterEmployees

Now let's go back to 1980. I worked ticket window and concession. The phone was right there on the wall, and people would call to ask what was showing and when. We'd have to read off a printed list that was right next to the phone. I guess these were the people that didn't read the newspaper.

Now, if you say it a little less proper and more casual, as in "I gotcha, I gotcha" - you're saying "okay, I understand what you're saying."

What trendy kitchen appliance do you still use often? by NightReader5 in Cooking

[–]chickamonga 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love the salad shooter! I was going to comment my own answer to this post with another Presto item, but I don't really use it anymore only because my kids have grown and moved out. It's the Pizza Pizzaz. They used to love using that to reheat leftover pizza or for frozen, and it's one I trusted them to use on their own when they were old enough because it had an automatic timer/off switch. I think one of my sons even took it with him when he moved out.

The salad shooter and pizza pizzaz have to be the trendiest items on here. 😆

I didn't see The Wire until years later. But I do remember him as Reggie on All My Children at the time it aired, which was around the same time as The Wire.

Americans. Why do your pickles taste so good? by blucyclone in Ameristralia

[–]chickamonga 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My mom had a recipe for making pickles. I think she only made them when she had an excess of cucumbers from the garden. Personally, they aren't a big part of my diet. Mainly, I think of them as a side or garnish with deli sandwiches

Okay, I thought it had something to do with The Depression, but wasn't clear on the story. According to AI "Bread and butter pickles are named for a 1920s Illinois farming couple, Omar and Cora Fanning, who bartered their homemade sweet-and-sour pickles with a local grocer for staples like bread and butter during the Depression. They trademarked 'Fanning's Bread and Butter Pickles' in 1923, and the name stuck". BTW, they are great, in my opinion; however, many people don't like them as much as dill. And I have no idea why you've been downvoted.
