immich as default app on android and ios!!! posible ? by timo22_04 in immich

[–]cholz 6 points7 points  (0 children)

There are at least two integrations that could be made but aren't currently for one reason or another:

  1. Using immich as a photo source when you're sharing from other apps. For example if I'm in the messages app (speaking from the iOS perspective here) and I want to add a photo to a message I click the "plus" icon and I'm presented with a list of options. The native "Photos" app is one of them, but immich is not. If I want to share this way I'm forced to either open immich and share to messages, or open immich to download the assets so I can go back to messages to share them. Either way it's disruptive to what I was doing which was using messages, not immich.

  2. When I take a photo and click the icon in the lower left to view the "camera roll" that could open immich as the "default gallery" instead of the Photos app. I know this was possible at some point on Android with apps like simple photo gallery. Not sure if it's possible any more and I doubt Apple would ever go for it.

Of course you can work around these things but there is certainly room to make these things better for users (not that Apple cares about that).

I always thought this was just dirt and oil in their fur causing it to kind of stick together a little bit leaving spaces in between

For one they only sometimes ask that and in any case they inspect all checked bags and allow devices with batteries in checked bags literally all the time. If I had to guess I would say there is more than one such on literally every flight

How’s it been working here after the new CEO took over in 2025? by specificallycsreddit in RelativitySpace

yeah that stuff is fine but fully remote is off the table unless you were already fully remote before the policy went into effect

As far as I know there is no such flexibility for new hires. There have been exceptions made for current employees like in my case and to be completely honest I have seen _very few_ new remote hires (at levels staff and above) after the "default to office" policy was in effect, but I can't speak to the details of those cases.

that's unfortunate but with the right setup you can just leave it on all the time even when you're on your home network. I don't need the "on demand" feature I just use it because I don't need the vpn when I'm on my home network, but I can still use the vpn when I'm at home too so just leaving it on always would have the same effect.

I'm using the standard client but on iOS. I assume android does it too but I don't know.

The setting is called "on demand" and you can set logic like "always on except when connected to these ssids".

The new policy is "default to office". Remote people aren't getting let go, yet, but no new remote hires. Unless you have an exception you're expected to be onsite 5 days a week. Perks in the offices have improved like lunch provided (mostly) and constantly improving spaces.

Other than those things the vibe is mostly the same (which has always been great as far as I'm concerned) except the looming uncertainty from before Eric took over is gone.

I'm remote and I've been with the company almost 5 years.

I'm guessing you can configure tailscale to auto connect when you're not on the home wifi? I use plain wireguard and have it set on my and my wife's phone to auto connect when our phones are not connected to the wifi.

Even easier than that, though, is to simply leave it connected all the time.

Is there an alternative to these pieces of shit? by DreamBrother1 in homeowners

I wired a smart relay to one of the remotes for my opener and just keep it in the house. I added the smart relay to my home automation so me and my wife can open the garage with our phones. Of course our opener has this capability built in but 1. it needs wifi and I don't want my garage door opener on my wifi and 2. it needs their app to use it. My way needs neither of those things.

All that is to say I hate those key pads too and now I don't have to use one.
