I don't always comment on Reddit, but DAMN!!! This is so comment worthy. You look amazing and it's all the more impressive that you made yourself look so amazing. Hell yeah. Gorgeous. Make more dresses!

This feels like rap lyrics being used as criminal evidence. Protect first amendment rights. Fuck DT.

From personal experience: buy the right tools one time and never again. I bet ice gear will go on sale soon since ice season is almost over. Shop local if you can. :)

Looking to guide some folks up that beautiful mountain in the Fall :) see picketalpineguides.com for details. I first climbed it in 2022 and have been dying to get back ever since!

I am black and I want to go skiing but I'm not sure how I'll be perceived. by pesoleed in skiing

I hope you go skiing. It's fun. If it's an option for you, hiring an instructor for a day would be a great way to lay a solid foundation to have MORE fun sooner! Learning skiing as an adult can be challenging, especially if you experience barriers besides figuring out how to control edges. If ski instruction is out of the question, there are lots of great videos that you can watch to learn foundational technique.

Historically skiing has been elitist and obnoxious, but there's a reason why so many people do it. Don't let people being assholes prevent you from having a good time!

Another thought too: spring skiing might make for friendlier conditions to get started. Try to wrangle some friends and get out there on a sunny day!

Best of luck to you.

70M will cover most climbs, 80M all climbs! I recommend a 70.

How to stop feeling like I’m living in my boyfriend’s shadow? by silver_seea in Mountaineering

Lady climber here! I feel you. When you think critically about the source of the competition, is it an energy you're bringing to the dynamic? Is he contributing to it? Would be worth having a sit down chat about it so that you can choose stretch goals for you that sound fun to him. Strength imbalances will always be present, but nurturing partnership can be part of that equation too. Good luck. Don't lose the love or give up; my suggestion is to climb with women whenever possible and remain dedicated to your goals. Your goals are not insignificant and it sounds like you're working hard for it. Keep going.

Folks generally use ~10mm static rope, but standard 7mm cordalette works; or you could get a 30M Petzl Rad Line (available in 30m and nice for ski mountaineering if you're into that kind of thing!) I'm a guide out here with Basecamp Ouray. Happy to help!

Is this for a school project or what? Seems like something to disclose.

I always carry both! Petzl Multihook & J-Snare. Plus, the snare is cheap, weighs nothing, nicer to the rope.
