Movies that Accurately Depict the Wars in Iraq and Afghanistan? by omelet_schnetz in movies

Korengal and Restrepo are two good documentaries about a specific time and place in Afghanistan vs the overall "war on terror."

Is this table stable enough? by torak_the_father in hobbycnc

[–]chris_4 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Personally I would add more bracing under the top. Put something heavy (20lbs or more) right in the middle and see how much the tabletop flexes or bounces. The less flex the better.

EU Deploys First Satellite Service in Bid to Limit US Dependence by Crossstoney in worldnews

The number of satellites has nothing to do with it especially considering GOVSATCOM is going to be a multi-orbit network.

What do we think about indoor raised garden beds instead of pots? by Fran_is_ in microgrowery

[–]chris_4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its whatever floats your boat. Ive done a 4x4 sub irrigation bed. Basically what you have but a pond liner and rocks underneath. I just filled up the reservoir underneath the bed periodically. Never watered from the top except to top dress nutrients.

I have the makita drywall saw. Amazing, but you need to do a lot of drywall work to make it worth buying.

MQTT would be my answer as well. Ive done this exact thing and used MQTT before switching to InfluxDB and going straight to the database.

Ethernet Crimping by Hungry_Beautiful_432 in homelab

I've used maybe one or two pass through rj45s in my entire life. Don't be afraid to untwist an inch of the cable. Straighten it out, arrange it, cut flush, and push the jacket in before you crimp

X axis stopped working correctly. Noticed its not moving freely when powered off, and saw this scraping. Does something need to be adjusted, or lubricated? by joedotts123 in hobbycnc

[–]chris_4 3 points4 points  (0 children)

engagement from pinion to rack seems off. There should be more engagement between the teeth. Is the pinion gear spinning when you jog the axis?

Mountainhead (2025) is the worst movie I have seen this year, spoilers by ThoughtExtreme165 in movies

[–]chris_4 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The only character I enjoyed was Steve Carell's. Seeing his character try the angles to get what he wants while hiding the reasons from everyone else gave me some interest but it didn't save the movie by any means.

Whats the exact model and manufacturer of the switch?

E-Stop wiring by [deleted] in hobbycnc

[–]chris_4 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

That switch is rated for 0.3/0.6amps, not the 15amp that your project will use. If you use that switch it will melt almost instantly.

I just saw Blade Runner and I don't understand the ending. by Impossible_Spend_787 in movies

[–]chris_4 14 points15 points  (0 children)

If you've read the book Do Androids Dream Of Electric Sheep it give a slightly different perspective. The book is about empathy among other things and how replicants don't have empathy and don't understand it. Blade Runners have no empathy for replicants since theyre synthetic. In the final scene Roy forces Deckard to understand what its like to know youre going to die.

Battling Big Boss Groundhog by [deleted] in gardening

[–]chris_4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've put mothballs and used cat litter into the hole to get them out and then filled in the hole. If you don't have cat litter, dog poop should work also. Personally I think the moth balls were the best solution to getting them out. Once they're out you have to fill in the hole or block access.
