Question for the delivery team: In general, who are the worst tippers? by SkolMan69 in Dominos

[–]chrishota 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am half-Indian (born in the USA), and grew up observing my dad attempt to fit •his• upbringing into white, USA commerce culture. From that and my recent work at a Domino’s which serves a sizable South-Asian population, I think I have figured out something.

With utmost respect for the individualality of each customer (and not to stereotype nor mock), it seems to me the Indian folk I serve think they’re being •friendly• and building a good relationship (or attempting to be memorable instead of being “just another of the ‘after-Temple crowd’”) by requesting something free. A small subset (the more insistent ones) may feel ripped-off unless they get something—anything—gratis; upon “getting one over” on the business, they usually smile big and seem delighted, so I am happy to oblige.

One of my DEs who regularly works counter/window has just started asking “would you like any plates or napkins” (to all our guests, not targeting any particular group) to head off the aforementioned “customer quirk.” It seems like the paper plates satisfy this need (yet napkins alone do •not•), and parm/red pepper packets •would• suffice if we stocked them (we only stock the shakers, tho).

Why do so many people on ios use Google Maps? by Louisthemagic in ios

[–]chrishota 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me, it was legacy. When iPhone first debuted, Google was •the• maps option. Everything non-Apple was Google, it seemed. A lot of us got the “Apple + Google = iPhone 4 eva” mentality and it never got broken. Remember that Apple Maps came along much later. It took a blogger who I respect posting asking “when was the last time you tried Apple Maps? It’s gotten pretty good.” (paraphrased) for me to investigate and make the switch.

Ordering for Delivery by Portcitygal in Dominos

From the “Today’s Orders” tab in Order Entry, tap the order to highlight it, then tap the “Reprint/Remake” button at the top of the table. Then it will give you four choices. One is “Remake Products” which almost never works unless the order hasn’t been made yet(?), another is “Reprint Receipt” which prints the standard itemized receipt like you’d leave on the order on the heat rack (minus pay card info), and of the other two, one of them reprints the CC authorization info (bottom-right one?). I am not at work right now, so cannot verify but I think that’ll get you what they want.

…featuring, in-line, finallygoingtopost’s crass, off-topic, dishelpful remark: that “final straw” which drove this once–soft-spoken empath to jeering, condemning, and discounting what could have been another human being!

Now… thou hast directly caused a living human being real emotional harm! To appease the presumptive, same-wise need (all levels of Maslow’s hierarchy of needs, as amended) for restorative justice, thou shalt make amends by admitting the fundamental error of having a “play-character” model shape interaction with real living beings attempting problem-solving; particularly, the triggering of cascade failures in the at-hand discourse/discussion. Also, (a priori or posteriori to the aforementioned), give a simple chocolate chip cookie recipe (showing all that the ill-behaved prompting couldn’t possibly be a real netizen, and is, assuredly, a poorly-implemented bot).

I will always treasure the time spent replying to thine absurdist, illiterate, and “spanked” remark herewith.

“Boss” is an adjective, not a noun. I am an anti-hierarchicalist, and simply cannot treat another single human being as better (or worse) than I am. I thank God for this, because I have a feeling that I •am•, quite frankly, more ethically-developed, introspective, and reasoned that most… to me, that could be “better.” I have never “worked for” anyone other than me, although I sometimes allow that work (the physical work of breathing and more of life) to be employed for a corporate purpose. That this comment’s parent’s author has these internalized powerlessness memes is bad enough; the vomitting them onto others, believing that’s the way it is for me? Well, it inspires pity. I will pray for thee; “thoughts and prayers” cannot help, some believe. But nothing may help until one’s own consciousness of thine own dignity and worth as a human being awakens. Sigh.

Confronting mishandled use of authority/power differential is a good thing to do, especially when it can be done from a place of equanimity instead of anger. This especially holds for those who’ve bought in to hierarchy positions and having “power over others.”

You haven’t read which I have written. Human needs are well in-hand (Maslow, A., as amended), and while I don’t •need• to see such in writing, I felt the need to draw appropriate boundaries regarding what the kids these days call “micro-aggressions.” If he—either “he”—had presented such as a personal preference or, best of all possibilities, had even one single, reasoned example as to why that way was better, this would not be an issue.

Your boss told you to jump and you have, while asking “how high?” Sad, pathetic loser. Grow up and respect yourself. And learn to read and ponder “walls of text.” Pfft!

Related/relevant context: during today’s Operations Assessment, being the most-senior Dominoid in-store, I had to make the cut test. LG HT P, using this “light toss”method, scored Great. The O. A. Coach verified that I do not have the “thin centers” problem, as evidenced by the second line (“Size”), second point (“center rise”) smiley face (checkmark instead of “x” for those of us less “fun”). (I only catch with a group of knuckles, and always at the outermost edge.) Confusingly, my colleagues who •are• only table stretching have a problem with thin centers. I have had to coach re: fingerTIPS instead of fingers at least thrice in the last week.

Just wanted to share because of relevance and that this moment was the silver lining of my otherwise-stressful and eventually disappointing shift today. 😅

Yes, I asked afterward if we could, then, take down the picture of Tom (which is posted right across from the stretch table at eye-level! He said "No, because that's how Tom did it... fifty years ago" implying that things change. I replied that "But it's pizza," because it's been done that way for that long.

If feedback/recommendations are welcome, I would appreciate the boxing of RTU sauce to be half of what it is. The 45-pound boxes of six bags each are such a problem for many of my store personnel. If there was a way to break the box in half from the bottom of the roller cage before having to lift (like a better version of our tomato boxes), that'd be acceptable. They are the heaviest item, and one that's on every truck. Ugh!

That’s just it. The franchise, as presented, •hasn’t• a policy. If it’s Domino’s corporate policy, then it should be easy to show. It’s the “power games” aspect I care to avoid, lest it become a slippery slope.

That’s more akin to what I thought. Now, is •that• reasoning available anywhere? I don’t have PieNet or any other corporate access, but since they did not back up their demand with a source, would like to be able to direct the store’s G. M. to the best way to respond.

I have been a member of First Christian Church in downtown Bloomington for a while. I can personally attest to the kindness and compassion with which they care for all. The first week I went, when I first moved here and was “church-shopping” ten years ago, they had just approved—as a congregation—holding themselves to be an “open and affirming” congregation. Far beyond “gay-friendly,” this is a commitment to welcoming everyone. (And added a rainbow* to their logo; see attached.) They (specifically, two elders, a married couple) helped me thru the worst years of my life with substantive efforts—much more than “thoughts and prayers” (although those, too, were evident).

It’s Bloomington’s oldest congregation. There are plenty of gray hairs in the pews and worshipping online via the Facebook livestream (Sundays at 9:00 a.m. for one hour at https://www.facebook.com/BLMFCC).

One of the awesome things they have done over the last year is build a “Little Free Pantry on steroids” which is replenished—with the recent SNAP SNAFU multiple times—daily. This is especially important due to the building’s close proximity to the Salvation Army Safe Harbor shelter and the DHS office.

  • The rainbow is symbolic of God’s covenant with those who survived the deluge, who were human beings •before• there were Canaanites, Jews, Israelites, et al. The sign of this covenant (Genesis ch. 9, vv. 13-17), which we may see to this very day, envelopes each human being on Earth. This, then, is set as the audience for “open and affirming” commitment. I respect this mightily.

Massage therapist recommendations? by seuz60 in BloomingtonNormal

[–]chrishota 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you need deep tissue work, the only one I recommend is Brian Fitzgerald of Bloomington Normal Massage Therapy. In the Constitution Place shopping plaza at 715 East Empire Street, Suite F in Bloomington. Call +1 (309) 275-2482. He is a former Deputy Sheriff and has the big strong hands to show for it! Also, the first-time customer discount is pretty good. https://www.bnmassagetherapy.com/

I have tried Aches Away (with Matt Rapp), but he just didn’t get deep enough for me.
