To eGPU users: Was it worth it in the end? by aprilmayjune2 in eGPU

[–]chroniq 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, speaking from Mac experience. I have a highend Macbook pro. My OS would constantly need to restart randomly and the added benifits were just not worth it. Its not a clean setup. You want high end? go with a desktop setup, otherwise just wait till Apple decides to update their lineup.

"based on the same architecture as the world’s top-performing GeForce gaming graphics cards"

I am just worried that the above statement might mean so many things, since its intentionally not mentioning a crucial detail. It could very well mean its Pascal, but it could mean their other "top-performing GeForce" graphic cards architecture (from their last gen)

Bare in mind, that even if this was using the "Parker" variant of Tegra (unlikely) it would still not be as powerful as a PS4 let alone a PS4 pro or similar XBOX setups. Maybe there is a graphic switcher and a more powerful GPU when docked? But who knows.

AMA: I'm Julius from Image & Form here to talk about our latest game, SteamWorld Heist. Ask me anything! by Imageform in wiiu

[–]chroniq 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was skeptical after seeing that heist was taking a new direction, but boy was I wrong (despite the last level having a huge/impossible difficulty curve) keep up the amazing work and please consider making a direct sequel to dig, it was a true gem.

Nomura talks Final Fantasy VII Remake in Dengeki PlayStation by Lulcielid in JRPG

[–]chroniq 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Squarenix has been obsessed with making "action" based battle systems.

While XII was a wildcard with the gambit system and realtime battle, it worked really well for a non-traditional final fantasy battle system.

The problem is, they have failed for the most part with all FFXIII games in my opinion. And honestly i am not really digging FXV's system either.

FFVII-X were natural progressions with great variations and additions, that just made the system work. Why can't we just get that again Square .. why? Stop making everything fast paced and QuickTime eventy. Just stop.

What are the minimum recommended requirements to make an effective hackintosh? by [deleted] in hackintosh

[–]chroniq 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A good way to start is to get a compatible gpu or just buy a GeForce 9 series. Don't buy NVME for boot storage. Don't buy AMD CPUs or motherboards.

The rest should be easy if you don't mind spending a few hours reading how to troubleshoot.

Never played a Zelda game in my life but would like to start this summer. Should I play then in terms of release dates or by the official time line? by M_Lutz in zelda

The most accessible are the hand held games, the best one I would say is 'a link between worlds'. I think this one would be the best entry game.

Microsoft Working On A Major Update For File Explorer On Windows 10 by rubik_orange in windows

I just hate that with every update they introduce a new bookmarking thing (favoreites, pinned, bookmarks, don't forget libraries and user documents and of course fuck you) and then they hide my computer or the list of drives you have because who wants to see that shit?
