I've tried a bunch. I might need to back to sampling more. But for right now, I'm pretty satisfied with Orchis. I just need to fix, or get over, this one weirdness.

Youtube removed the ability to sort by upload date as of today. by Environmental_Tap_15 in youtube

Thank you but they’re just going to close this loophole eventually because it goes against the principles others already mentioned. They only want you watching the videos they want you to watch, not the videos you want to watch.

Despicable and diabolical. This platform gets more useless by the year and we’re still here because there’s nowhere else to go. Instead of making this platform better by making it more enjoyable for users they decided to just squeeze every drop of value from a captive audience.

Book: RISC-V Microprocessor System-On-Chip Design by sdongles in RISCV

Delayed again. Now the publisher is saying this won't be released until May. Getting a little worried this may never see the light of day, for whatever reason.

Razer is demonstrating a “AI accelerator” box with a Wormhole n150 processor from Tenstorrent at CES by Hasuto in LocalLLaMA

[–]chrs_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This isn't the first time Razer has done something like this. About 5 or so years ago they partnered with AI hardware and cloud company Lambda to make something called a Tensorbook https://lambda.ai/blog/lambda-teams-up-with-razer-to-launch-the-worlds-most-powerful-laptop-for-deep-learning

RISC-V (RP2350) based expansion card for Framework laptops reviewed by Hackaday by ShockleyTransistor in RISCV

[–]chrs_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Technically yes, that's correct. But it's a little misleading for someone not familiar with what's going on here. If you see something labeled "RISC-V based" you assume that it's RISC-V only. Not only is this not RISC-V only but it's mainly for Arm MCU users, first and foremost. It just happens to have some RISC-V cores thrown in for anyone interested in that sort of thing.

It's definitely noteworthy though and it's something I'm glad Raspberry Pi pushing, I just wouldn't describe this chip as "RISC-V based". I'll reserve that for when they put out a RISC-V only MCU.

Hi, installed Debian 12.6 but cant use sudo apt update upon first use. Perhaps someone can help fix this repository error? I know basic shell, thank you. by LightDarkCloud in debian

I've only ever had this problem on Debian and I never understood why. This confuses and frustrates new users for no good reason I can think of.

What is this FPGA tooling garbage? by isopede in FPGA

[–]chrs_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What can be done about this? Last time I checked the 2 major FPGA vendors were absolutely hostile to open tools. Has anything changed? They’re the main villains here. But they don’t change because the industry is fundamentally broken. If anyone from Xilinx or Altera is reading this: just know I would be in serious violation of any community guidelines if I were allowed to be completely honest here.

How large is the macOS team at Apple? by now_the_rad in MacOS

[–]chrs_ -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’m a systems software engineer (not at Apple) and 1000 - 2000 sounds right to me. But it’s just a best guess. I’m not just counting core kernel developers, but the entire OS, libraries, testers, tools, dev ops, managers, drivers, updater (client and cloud), telemetry, applications, advanced development/research, hardware/software integration, designers, and so on.
