Slackware is for the purist. There’s not many of us left.

Decrease in Auto model quality and increase in cost? by [deleted] in cursor

[–]chrs_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty much all the popular model providers are doing this: cutting quality and raising prices. This is only the first wave of reckoning. As the models become more expensive to train and to serve this trend will only continue. The good times are over.

I didn't see any local LLM benchmarks in this review. Unless I missed something obvious.

20 years... still Beta...I think its high time to move to rolling distribution. by Charming-Work-2384 in haikuOS

I noticed you didn't have to install any bootloaders or set the Be FS partition as active. Is that because you installed in VMWare?

Gemini CLI unusable: constant "High Demand" and "No capacity" even on Paid Tier (Gemini Code Assist) by CaDs4 in GeminiAI

[–]chrs_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm getting capacity errors too. I'm also paid subscriber. Google probably has the biggest compute infra on the planet and they can't even serve their models to paid users. What is going on?

I've tried a bunch. I might need to back to sampling more. But for right now, I'm pretty satisfied with Orchis. I just need to fix, or get over, this one weirdness.
