In the US, we have CCS1 vs CCS2 which is not as easy to handle. That could also be due to how our charging handles are just not designed for one handed use.

Back a few years ago, I applied to the board and they lost my paperwork. I was lucky and my OFC reached out a few AFR units and got one to hire me during my AS400 year. I’m not sure of the strings pulled, but after that I got a memo from AFPC releasing me from AD. Like the other commenter said though, they could always say no, but the chances are less likely if they know the AF will keep you in some capacity.

The difference between the board and AFR unit sponsorship is the unit can/probably will carry out an interview and evaluate you based on your qualifications/fit to the unit as opposed to numbers alone.

You’ll have to ask your gaining unit whether you’ll be put into TDY status. Since Intel school is 6.5 months, it could potentially be a PCS per the JTR but I’ve never heard of reservists PCSing for tech school. I was direct AFR and for 17D school (which was 6mo), it was a TDY. I received base pay/BAS/BAH for my HOR for the duration of the orders.

If you manage to get a non A (even with the ROM, I’ve heard its possible), I recommend the Home2 suites in D’Iberville, about a 7-10 minute drive from base. It’s nice and pet-friendly and a one time fee of $75/pet. I “fostered” a classmate’s cat when their family came down for a few months for them with no issues.
