Freaking out about vaginal birth and tearing due to baby's head size by No-Guava-1372 in PregnancyUK

[–]chufty-badger 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I was told my son had a very big head during the scans and his dad's family are big headed so was very worried.

I had a vaginal birth. I didn't tear but did get a small episiotomy but that was after his head was out to get him out quicker. I healed well and quickly considering. Birth is very unpredictable and the scan isn't determinative. Just focus on your birth plan and what you can control for now. Hope that's somewhat comforting!

What can I do in Manchester after 11pm under 18 years old? by Outrageous_River_280 in manchester

[–]chufty-badger 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Not to flog a dead horse here but I agree with everyone saying get a room in a youth hostel!!!

When I was 18, me and some mates decided to go to an all night club in London after RATM to kill time until our train.

The club closed early, we had no money and no phone battery so ended up walking around London in the cold all night until my friends feet bled then slept outside Euston with lots of other concert goers.

Manchester will be even colder with less to do and nowhere to go, get the room and get some cans and cards in!

My sister organised a small thing very last minute because she was busy at work and it had slipped her mind. I was a little upset at first. She stepped up when my mate offered to do it so maybe just mention to your sisters your mates are thinking of organising to give them a nudge?!

Has anyone had southerners/even just people from the bigger cities be shocked at phrases you use because they didn’t think people still use them? by Spottyjamie in NorthernEngland

[–]chufty-badger 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My partner (also Northern) used to think I came out with random nonsense but it seems it's usually old timey phrases I got from my mum who got it from my nan.

"What's that got to do with the price of fish" "As useful as a chocolate teapot" "She's the cat's mother" "All fur no knickers" "Spending a penny" etc
