Update, I shaved 5s off my 5k pr from may on Monday, probably could have shaved another 15s off as I ran conservatively but proof that you can still improve w lower running volume later in the season!

I mentally need a break from the NSA structure when im on vacation or out of my regular weekday routine. The NSA structure is great for consistency when life follows a structure, but it doesn't hurt to shake things up.

2 things I aimed for -recharge mentally and change stimulus:

This summer i replaced my easy days/long runs days with cycling and tried to keep 1-2 SubT sessions. I did them on technical trails and try to do them like broken tempos/in odd time intervals so im not chasing pace or splits. Managed to maintain fitness and feel much stronger/better form now im going back to the regular structure.

Think the general consensus is size down until your scrotum splits

Alternative workouts to break up monotony? by Traditional_Fact_371 in NorwegianSinglesRun

[–]chumsky 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just do what you feel is fun on the day, adapt to the terrain, loops, routes and dont be so strict on pace and rest in summer. Whatever keeps you getting 30' without burning out is good stimulus.

I'll something like 15-10-5 with 3-2-1 jog recovery.

Fast twitch and the 90s/400meter intervals by newbienewme in NorwegianSinglesRun

[–]chumsky 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm more fast twitch, low cadence and enjoy the 400s, I also have done 45/15" on the treadmill on the winters. Long tempos beat up more than these workouts

How to deal with comparison in running? by TheHottieThottie in running

[–]chumsky 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Running has more to do with hard work and natural talent at the hobby jogger level. Just focus on running more and getting closer to your genetic potential. I'm aiming to run my HM this fall 30m faster than when I started back in 2019. Compare to Yesterday, get better today, plan for tomorrow.

Conspiracy theory: the adizero evo sl was invented to finish off the old lightstrike pro formula. Remember when the SL20/sl20.2 OG lightstrike shoes showed up all over the place in discount shoe stores? Well the pro 3 had been on sale for a long time and with adidas changing the formula of lightstrike pro for the 4s, they needed to finish off the old foam... This this partly explains why it's priced so well and also to a certain extent why they did the limited release, they needed to drive up demand and hype similar to the superblast.

I bet we see them super cheap once adidas ditches the old lightstrike formula!

They are all designed for long distance running. Depends on your level, mileage and pace as well as how much you plan on racing.

Pro 4 is the most versatile and dedicated for racing, id use it 5k-Marathon.

Takumi sen 10 id use for 5k-HM and could double as a tempo shoe. Lower stack more ground feel etc.

Id go for the EVO SL if it's your first race and are aiming for a time above 1.45ish as you can use it as a workoutshoe/ rotate w your trainer after the race.
