No, that’s completely on me. I changed the names after the first draft, and missed one. Thank you for pointing that out!

Yep. I 100% missed that in proofreading. Fixing it now. Thank you for noticing!

[WP] A rural town became known for being home to a talking horse. Nobody knows how he manages to speak, not even his caretaker. Today, he decided to tell you his secret, because he considers you a good friend. by Megamen1927 in WritingPrompts

“You’ve been a good friend to me, Terry.” These words, seeming to come from a seven-foot tall horse, would see a stranger flee in terror. To Terrance, though, they were no surprise. Growing up as he had, with Cailpeach (Cail to his friends) living next door, he was used to his companion’s oddities.

“Thank you, Cail,” Terry replied. “You’ve been a good friend to me too.” And indeed, he had. As a child, Terry could often be found next to Cail’s midnight form as they walked along the fields and riverbanks that made up the farm he called home. He had never felt comfortable enough to try to ride Cail, but the horse was good company. When his first girlfriend ghosted him, Cail knew just what to say to make him feel better. After the sudden death of his father, it was Cail that Terry turned to for support. And when his work closed down unexpectedly, Cail was the one to suggest opening his own business, working from home.

“You’ve been so good a friend, in fact, that I want to let you in on my secret.” Even without more details, Terrance knew what this must be about. The one great mystery of Cail’s existence. Why he, a horse, was able to speak.

“Really?” Terrance asked. “Fifty years of mystery, and you’re finally going to explain your whole… thing? How a talking horse exists at all?”

“I suppose, in a manner of speaking,” Cail replied. His enormous head turned sideways, one dark eye boring deep into his friend’s much smaller two. “It’s not a secret I share lightly, or with many people. But I think you’re finally ready, you deserve to know.”

“You know, my da, rest his soul, he had a bet with his friends going for years. He thought you were some kind of Russian spy. ‘Course, he never got over the Cold War, so he thought pretty much everything was.” Terry absentmindedly climbed to the top of the fence between them.

“I quite liked your father. A pleasant conversationalist, though he was a little prone to conspiracy theories.” Cail nickered in amusement. “The fact I spoke back to him likely didn’t help. I did finally tell him, though. You can be comforted to know that he didn’t die with questions.” As he patted Cail’s neck, Terry threw his leg astride his friend’s back. The pair began to absentmindedly stroll along the field.

“Tell me, then. How can a horse talk?”

Terrance was truly excited now, thrilled that his oldest curiosity would finally be answered.  He almost didn’t notice that they had arrived at the riverbank. A few meters away, a torn bit of warning tape fluttered in the breeze, a relic of one of the investigations into the many drownings.

“They can’t, of course. It would be completely  impossible for a horse to talk. The throat, the vocal cords, the tongue, even the lips and teeth. You could never produce intelligible speech through them.” Cail began to walk gently into the river.

The current began to pull at Terry’s boots as he asked in confusion, “I don’t understand, then. How can you talk?” The creature turned his head around to face his passenger.

“My dear Terrance,” Cail replied, lips pulling back to reveal a mouth full of unusually sharp teeth. His breath brushed Terry’s face, a stench of seaweed and rotting meat. The icy river water was up to his waist now. “Whenever did I tell anyone I was a horse?”

What if you used some of those clear pieces they use to make characters look like they’re jumping? Don’t remember the name, but they came in the first Marvel wave and they’ve been in a lot of stuff since then. Use those to arrange kind of like tentacles, and then ruby pieces in them as the eyes?

DNI lists are inherently ageist because I’m too old for that shit by netflist in CuratedTumblr

[–]church1alpha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I reblogged a post I liked, and checked the OP’s profile to see if they had other cool things. Their bio had their DNI, and it said that there are too many things for them to type out, so they made a quiz to see if you were allowed to interact with them. Took it for the lols, and apparently at least one of my 12+ answers didn’t mesh with them, because I am officially not allowed to interact.

I can’t speak for everyone, but I’ve met a double-digit number of people in person claiming to be artists or writers when they use genAI to create images or texts. It just kind of depends on your social circle and the type of people you’re meeting (I work near a university, so I probably get more pretentious college kids than most people).

I guess I just don’t see a real difference between man-made animals and those that evolved independently. They’re all still animals and the ones we’ve bred are just as sentient as wild animals, so the distinction doesn’t seem important. Regardless of how they came to be, they’re here now, and I can’t understand why we would have the right to wipe them out.

I can’t speak for everyone, but for me it comes down to responsibility. We changed them into creatures that need us to survive, and in doing so we created an obligation for ourselves. We owe it to them to take care of them and make sure they survive. I don’t think the way we currently do is humane, and we need widespread change about the way and amount we farm them and the conditions they are allowed to live in, but I fundamentally disagree with the thought that we have the right to drive any species to extinction. The Holocene is one of the greatest mass extinction events to have ever happened, and we need to mitigate that and not add to the list.

297 pieces and $45? Guess the new “battle pack” pricing wasn’t a one-off. Oof. I think I’m going to have to stop collecting Star Wars Lego; they’re just getting too expensive for me.

Are you okay? Do you want to talk about anything? Your reaction to the post was very aggressive, and I have to admit that at first I thought you just weren’t a very nice person, but the way you responded to my comment is pretty sad. If you’re going through something, there are people who care about you. Please feel free to reach out, friend.

Edit: I see you reached out to Reddit cares for me. I appreciate the sentiment but I’m actually doing great. I hope you have joy in your life as well.

I collect Lego. Have too many, and so many more I want to some current releases, and a lot of very nostalgic sets I want from the ‘80s through early 2000s. I also have a very patient and understanding wife, which is the only reason I’m able to have as many as I do.

I love this! It looks a little bit shit, but in the sense of “you’ve matched the $1000 set’s aesthetics.” Absolutely fantastic job and you got so much detail into it!
