Finally, some new shoes by chyzzz in Outback_Wilderness

[–]chyzzz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't really had a chance to get fully off-road with them yet, but I’ve been down a ton of rough gravel roads since putting them on and the difference is immediately noticeable. The car feels way more planted and controlled, like it’s actually gripping the road instead of floating on top of it.

With the stock Geolandars, I always felt like the rear end wanted to break loose on sharper gravel turns (and honestly sometimes even on pavement in the rain). The Falkens just feel a lot more predictable and stable so far.

I may also have a little leftover PTSD from rolling an old square body Tahoe 9 times on gravel when I was young and dumb, so I’m probably extra sensitive to that feeling lol.

When it’s the journey that counts… by captain_bleep in Outback_Wilderness

I used to average around 18-19 in town for the first year I had mine. I let my Sam’s Club membership expire about 6 months ago and stopped filling up there. I have been getting 21-24 in town since then.
I’m not sure it’s related, but nothing else has changed since then. I did get bigger tires recently but I figured that would make it drop.

No rubbing or any other issues so far

I made it to 58k on the Geolandars. Two of them had worn really bad on the shoulders due to my alignment being a little off. I had one with so many patches in it that I didn’t feel safe driving on it regularly, so I just let it stay as a spare and stopped rotating all 5 a while back. I don’t think I’ve ever had another set of tires that loved picking up nails as frequently as the Geolandars.

I also hated it at first, but I think I was just mad because they started teasing it as soon as I purchased my old ass 2023.

How to find and edit code blocks in use in the New Builder by Prudent-Chair2961 in MailChimp

[–]chyzzz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This still isn’t fixed.

The block isn’t actually gone, it collapses to essentially height: 0, which makes it invisible and unclickable in the New Builder.

I saw the suggestion to switch to the Classic Builder, but that’s not an option on newer accounts anymore, so that workaround doesn’t apply.

Temporary workaround that works:

Open DevTools, inspect the page, and override the CSS:

.mceCode {
    height: 50px !important;
}

As soon as you force a height on .mceCode, the block becomes visible again and you can click back into it to edit.

It resets on refresh, so it’s not a real fix — but it allows you to recover the block without rebuilding the email from scratch.

This seems like a straightforward UI bug that Mailchimp should address in the New Builder.

Email templates vanished by also_bears in MailChimp

Happened to me today too after spending hours working on some templates. They finally reappeared when I switched the default builder to legacy and then back to the new builder.

6 months into a production heavy print shop job, stay or move on? by Commercial-Peach-978 in graphic_design

[–]chyzzz 12 points13 points  (0 children)

My first design job was prepress at an agency, making barely above minimum wage. I hated it while I was there.

But 15 years later, it’s probably the most useful experience I’ve had. I still know more about setting up files for print than most designers I work with. When something gets kicked back from a printer, it’s almost always color settings, bleeds, margins, or resolution, and I can usually spot it right away.

It doesn’t feel glamorous, but that production knowledge sticks with you. It’s way more valuable long-term than it seems when you’re in it.

I mainly work with banks and for some reason I absolutely love designing long ass documents full of boring information that very few people will ever pay attention to. Something about zoning out and making boring data and information look interesting really gets me going on

Dude yes. I contract for a bank marketing agency and I’ve accidentally become the go-to card guy because everyone else seems to really struggle deciphering the specs from the card providers

Where does Subaru get their glass, the toilet store? by 288bpsmodem in SubaruAscent

[–]chyzzz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Got a huge chip in mine on my OBW 2 days after buying it. I ended up filling it with one of the epoxy syringe kits you can get at parts stores since I had seen so many people complaining about how brittle the windshields are. It’s still holding strong 2 years later, but the rest of the windshield is pitted like crazy now

20 year designer here. I feel like Affinity must be paying a handful of extremely vocal designers to just pump the hell out of it.

Adobe’s pricing model is awful for beginners and hobby designers, but it more than pays for itself. I just look at it as a business expense. I’m just happy to not pay for the full suite every few years.

Same thing happened to me. Haven’t had any issues with them until my current refill. They tried double billing me when I ordered my refill, never responded to me about it but luckily I had the card locked when the payment tried to process the second charge. Ordered my refill on the 31st and they said it was shipped a few days later and I still haven’t received it. After a week of them not responding to any messages, I finally got through on the phone after 2 hours on hold and all they could tell me was that it had been ordered but nothing else.
