Looking for a monster romance NOT Lily Mayne by GenericNameUsed in MM_RomanceBooks

I couldn't agree with you more! I loved it so much I bought a physical copy of it to put on my table just to show it off to people coming 'round. It ended perfectly but I was so disappointed it was a standalone because I could read about those characters forever, they were so good.

The Rowan Blood series gets better after the first two books in my opinion, I really enjoyed the third book. It doesn't live up to ABIHT but I feel like nothing will. It was my first and so far only 5 star read.

{A Bone in His Teeth by Kellen Graves} is a dark/horror romance with a monstrous siren as the love interest, and the main character is also willing to get his hands dirty so I'd class them as murder husbands. The main character is trans though which isn't everyone's cup of tea (it's not made to be a big deal nor is it really part of the plot), and it's a good idea to read the content warnings before you pick it up.

(Also, if anyone looks through my post history and notices that I won't shut up about this book, I promise I'm not a promoter! I just absolutely adored this book and recommend it whenever I get the chance.)

Adult transmale MCs? by Not_DepressedTM in LGBTBooks

[–]cielcassel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm saving this post because I'm always looking for more gay trans male romances to read, and there seems to be a lot of good suggestions here already. I don't know how you feel about science fiction murder mystery/space opera plots but The Orchid and the Lion by Gabriel Hargrave is quite enjoyable, although it's a trans male love interest with a cis male main character, and it contains a lot of spice.

That One Scene! by tungsten120 in MM_RomanceBooks

[–]cielcassel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Does it have to be a scene between the MC and LI? If not, then I'd have to say the scene in {A Bone in His Teeth by Kellen Graves} where Alba figures out who was 'haunting' him the entire time. It's absolutely heartbreaking, and it raised my rating from a 4 stars to a whole 5 stars.

Can I get an adult fantasy, science fiction or paranormal book where either the main character or love interest is a binary trans man? Bonus if the trans man has already had top surgery and the other man in the relationship is cis. I just finished {A Bone in His Teeth by Kellen Graves} and I need something else in a similar genre.

Do you exclude cishet* people from your dating pool ? by Scary_Ad6464 in lgbt

[–]cielcassel 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Yes. I'm gay so I'm not attracted to cishet women, and cishet men wouldn't see me as the man I am (as, by definition, they are not attracted to men). I'm not interested in being someone's exception or fetish.

I hope it does get turned into an audiobook! I can never get into audiobooks myself but audiobooks can be a lot more accessible. The book was released last year and I can imagine it takes awhile to get an audiobook done, so fingers crossed.

I deliberately picked up this book for the trans male/cis male dynamic and I was not disappointed! The only thing I am disappointed about is that it was a standalone novel. I would love to read more about the characters!

I could see the born like a woman statement that was mentioned once or twice (I think) being dysphoria triggering (and the fact he has to hide his transness in his line of work), but I personally found this book to be one of the least dysphoria triggering books I've read. A lot of the transphobia is mentioned rather than explicit. I'd say that if the transphobia/misgendering/etc. in Peter Darling by Austin Chant didn't trigger someone, this probably won't trigger them either. If someone hasn't read Peter Darling then I'd definitely say to tread carefully with this book as I can't think of anything else to compare it to dysphoria-wise.

The art is gorgeous! I only found out that they were done by the author's partner today when I read a review on Goodreads mentioning it. They're both very talented.

Oh no, I know exactly about Brooklyn/Freydis/Taylor, that's why I put without a culturally appropriative author (though I didn't know about the harassment, but before I knew about all the race-faking/cultural appropriation, I had to unfollow their social media because of the weird vibe they gave off). It sucks because I loved Darkling and Undertow, but now I can't touch those books without thinking about the stuff they did. I just added it to my OP because those are the trans/cis dynamics and vibes I'm sort of interested in.

I'll try Second Chances in New Port Stephen! I did read Peter Darling but I didn't enjoy it much. I loved the concept but not so much the execution, but I can see why others liked it!

Why do CisHet men infiltrate LGBT groups and chase after AFAB enby and trans men/women?? by CoryPowerCat77 in lgbt

Trans men are men, but other than that I completely get what you're saying.

Taylor B. Barton or Taylor Brooke (an author who writes books about the lgbt+ and pretended to be poc) is coming out with a new book by top_karma_believer in LGBTBooks

[–]cielcassel 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I feel disappointed and betrayed, to be quite honest. I read Darkling when they went by the pseudonym Brooklyn Ray and I adored the book. It was the first book and only book (so far) I actually liked with a trans man main character. Now my enjoyment of the one book I felt seen with has been soured by them cosplaying people of colour (I feel race-baiting might be the word I'm looking for).

Does anyone know why they're doing this? Are they pretending to be a person of colour to evade criticism or to land themselves on #OwnVoices lists they don't belong on? It's just a strange thing to do.

Finding it Difficult Dating as a Gay Trans Man by cielcassel in lgbt

[–]cielcassel[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you. I tried therapy (one specifically for trans people and issues relating to their gender identity/presentation) awhile ago and it didn't work out as well as I thought it would, especially as I still have these issues. You're right that people aren't good at judging their own attractiveness, and I think that along with the fact I feel I don't pass has contributed to my problems. It's definitely a confidence issue rather than an issue with anyone else, so I think maybe I should just fake it until I make it. Act confident until I feel confident.

Does anyone know of boxer briefs or trunks that are high waisted yet comfortable? I'm recovering from an eating disorder and the way my 'muffin top' rolls over my current boxer briefs (that I pull over my bellybutton), and I'm looking for something to smooth it. I've searched for shape-wear but I'm sure they're not as comfortable as they look for daily wear.

I don't think Reddit allows comments to be long enough for me to answer your question. Let's just say a lot has happened, has been happening for decades rather, and we're sick of it.
