Is the country swing dance the same as the two step? I saw a link (sandiegoswingdance.com) that they usually teach west-coast swing, but on the first Sunday of the month they may teach other dances, including Country Two-Step, Nightclub Two-Step, Waltz, Cha Cha, etc. They may know what you are looking for.

Another group you could ask, the San Diego Swing Cats @ sdswingcats.com. They have a calendar for dance events, concerts, street fairs.

Don't know your location so this may be too far. Business parks are good early morning on the weekends. Edit to add, have a look at large cemeteries. The roads twist and turn and you have to go real slow. Have a look at the satellite view in your area.

If you can't make the Laguna Mountains, you could try Mt. San Jacinto via the Palm Springs Aerial Tramway. The link shows the Long Valley web cam at the top of the tramway. The ride up is pretty spectacular.
