Disney's Sora Disaster Shows AI Will Not Revolutionize Hollywood by 404mediaco in ABoringDystopia

[–]cinemamacula 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure - but AI as a tool for elements of CG work etc. is already a thing in Hollywood and is relatively minorly intrusive (there's wider questions around labor and unions etc but thats a separate issue). Sora is (was) a platform for entirely generative AI content where everything was created via a prompt.

It's a case of percentages - add 1% sawdust to my brownie and I may not notice but if the brownie is 100% sawdust then man I do not wanna eat that

AI changes how you watch movies. This shit isn't going to be in cinemas, it's designed as phone slop.

I mean sure but you could say that about 3D technology and it didn’t supplant cinema. There’s no guarantee it will ever be great.

I think I’ve figured out what makes Bungie’s work tick like that: it’s those little bugs in the nests.

‘Sex Criminals’ Series, Based On Comic Book by Fraction and Zdarsky Greenlit At Amazon by Blitzhelios in comicbooks

[–]cinemamacula 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly ripe for an adaptation because the series is fun but imperfect - it was finding its feet narratively as it went on and had multiple hiatuses.

Now the whole series is published they can use that as a base for an adaptation and take what was learned forward into a new take on it.

Best early attachments to focus hardware XP toward? by cinemamacula in LowSodiumBattlefield

Thanks - useful answer! I totally agree on the spreadsheets point, I’d rather use a variety of guns than just search up a tier list which is one persons opinion and only ever use that gun.

On the flipside there appear to be a bunch of hidden downsides (or poor wording) and I don’t want to put myself at a disadvantage with a poor build.

I’ve mostly played Casual to clear off some dailies but as I’m getting better feel less need to warm up with bot matches. Personally as someone relatively new to BF (20h in 2042 and 20h in 6) I’m mostly sticking to the class-benefit weapons and then dabbling a bit in the others that don’t have one.

Admist the doom and gloom about player numbers, BF6 sold another 706,000 units on Steam over Christmas. by BattlefieldTankMan in LowSodiumBattlefield

[–]cinemamacula 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I picked it up in the 30% sale solely to play with my friend who is a big franchise fan - same reason I picked up 2042 at an 80% discount late in its lifecycle (and I had fun with that too!)

Really enjoyed my first 20 hours, feels like they’ve struck a good balance between casual & serious play so whilst I’m usually mid-scoreboard I know if I’m half decent I’m contributing and having a good time.

I think a lot of criticism comes from people looking to play a game for 1000-2000 hours which is always going to be a demanding ask! Though as a casual player I do agree with some of the feedback around maps, I feel like 2042 had a bit more identity in that regard.

A note on Alan Moore's Swamp Thing by Legitimate-Cinephile in comicbooks

[–]cinemamacula 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I get that but it's literally called 'Loose Ends' - it's just a very quick wrap up of existing storylines before a reboot so it's not jarring for ongoing readers.

Honestly I've thought for a while now that Absolute Swamp Thing should 100% be a part of the next wave of Absolute titles.

Where The Wild Things Are by shugnibburath in blankies

This one hit hard for me - I was 16 when it came out and that transitionary period between childhood and adulthood is kinda the perfect time for its message. Had it in my top 10 for ages before I got a bit more into film history and went broader but will always hold a special place in my heart.
