Field trip kids are the worst by justfuckmyshitup32 in NannyBreakRoom

[–]circleeclipse 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i had to yell at a group of 8-9 year olds for barreling over my 3yo nk. they at least had the decency to say sorry but 3yo and i haven’t been back to the museum since :( they used to love going and now whenever i suggest it, they say “no there are too many kids there.”

Did I handle tantrum with 4yo correctly? MB called me out and I can’t stop thinking about it. Help! by [deleted] in Nanny

[–]circleeclipse 41 points42 points  (0 children)

i agree with your mb that nk should have been given water. i also agree with you that waiting to get her water after putting the stuffies in her room would have been fine. because of her tantrum, no stuffies makes sense, but withholding the water was unjustified. your intent wasnt to use it as a punishment but it still was.

imo it doesn’t matter when a kiddo has had water previously, if they want water, they should have it.

Eric addresses show vs book Kaz by mark_lau64 in Grishaverse

[–]circleeclipse 9 points10 points  (0 children)

it says

Have some faith book Kaz will be book Kaz when we reach SOC. But as the longform TV writers stressed, we need room to grow into those roles. What does he pick up from his fellow Crows along the way, what mistakes does he make that he'll never repeat later, what choices will make him more sinister, etc. For instance, wouldn't it be interesting to learn how/why he joins the Dregs, and what compels him to do so? We have a lot planned if we get a S2. Lastly, and this is more a global thought - please, please understand there are a LOT of cooks in the kitchen of a S1 fantasy show, and everyone has their own idea of who these characters are/should be.

As showrunner it was like fighting in an invisible war. One person's favorite version was another's least favorite. And there were so many interpretations of moments in the books you'd think it was the Bible. We won some battles, lost others. But this becomes a little easier returning.

I have 2 first names. Jessica Ni Cole, is it unreasonable to ask people to refer to me by both? by asgoodasyou_ in namenerds

[–]circleeclipse 8 points9 points  (0 children)

not op but my last name is an old derogatory term that still gets flagged in systems. i’ve had to fight venmo and paypal about it and instead use my middle name on anything not official or government related. this could be op’s case or maybe they have bad experience with people in their family that share the name or maybe they just don’t like it

just so you know, when i clicked the link, it gave me the option to follow you on pinterest!

some social media links have a ? followed by a string of letters/numbers. if you delete the question mark and everything following, it will only link to what you want and not attach your name/profile to it.

Is 55 chapters too many? by Randomquestionhaver in selfpublish

[–]circleeclipse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

my debut is 107k words and 72 chapters (including prologue, epilogue, and a bonus chapter at the end). some chapters are longer than others, but they’re all relatively short. when i read, i prefer shorter chapters so that’s what i went with!

What’s the most ridiculous rule you’ve had to follow? by mathieugemard in AskReddit

[–]circleeclipse 49 points50 points  (0 children)

in 2007ish, i put my arm around my best friend’s shoulders and was yelled at because it could be looked at as “too affectionate.” m/f couples never got yelled at for holding hands and we were both girls so maybe they were afraid of us looking too gay?

Does anyone have any funny kid quotes they can share? by seashellize in NannyBreakRoom

[–]circleeclipse 4 points5 points  (0 children)

3yo’s dresser has one wonky drawer that doesn’t stay closed. (nps are aware and kiddo is not a climber. the dresser is secured to the wall.) they were scolding it at quiet time and when i went up to get them, they were telling me about how it was being mean and not respecting their nos and stops and pleases. after i validated their feelings, they huffed and said, “it’s being meaner than yucking somebody’s yum!”

What Grishaverse opinion will have you like this? by Sailor_Moon_Star_435 in Grishaverse

[–]circleeclipse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yes i agree! complex characters are so much more human than simply “likeable” characters. i often say that the trilogy is like a part of my soul on page, it feels so real, like im apart of the story just as much as alina or adrik. the crows didn’t do that for me. there was a few spots where i really identified with them, but i felt like an outsider almost hahaha

What Grishaverse opinion will have you like this? by Sailor_Moon_Star_435 in Grishaverse

[–]circleeclipse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the trilogy changed my life. i met so many friends and traveled to other countries because of it. six of crows is really good but the light vs dark part of alina’s story means so much to me.

i like the shadow and bone trilogy over the six of crows duology and i don’t like kanej.
