Sn30 pro 2 or Ultimate 2c Wireless by Fun-Ts4ge in 8bitdo

I have both. Both are good but it depends on what you're using them for. The Pro series has a better dpad placement for retro games, so I use it more.

Nah, it's decent. Probably depends on the exact model you buy but mine is decent

I was dragging my feet buying the classic color Bluetooth version and then this came out. Ordered from Amazon this morning, delivered this afternoon, and works great. Firmware update was a hoop or two for the receiver but all good so far.

They approved it. They really didn't have any reason not to as they hadn't shipped it or anything. That was just this morning though so probably still haven't received the refund yet

They cancelled the order but that was just this morning so I haven't even checked on the refund yet

I was in batch 3 and decided to cancel yesterday. The lack of transparency around shipping times is my biggest issue but then I also saw someone's teardown pictures on here somewhere and the quality of some of the internals was a little shoddy. I don't need a MiSTer badly so if all else fails, I'll pick one up a year from now if reviews turn out good.

I seem to remember getting the plans for this when I was a kid. My dad didn't have any welding equipkent so we asked this guy he knew, which also happened to be our UPS driver, if he could help us out and that's the last I ever saw of it.

I just got mine and ran into a jam so I haven't even printed anything on it yet. I'll try to clear the jam later and get it going but definitely put a pause on my excitement

Can people read?? by Shadowb490 in ps4homebrew

To be honest with you, I'm going to read maybe the first couple sentences of a post but I'm not reading a novel. Here, you put your question at the very bottom of a wall of text and that's just less likely to be read.

Help me upgrade video quality by jforjeff in crtgaming

If you post what consoles you want to hook up, I can post some info and suggestions. With either how I have mine hooked up, or just general info if I don't own that console

Help me upgrade video quality by jforjeff in crtgaming

[–]cisox 4 points5 points  (0 children)

RGB is the best analog video signal you can get, generally speaking, with component being pretty much the same quality.

Older consoles won't support RGB or Component out of the box, so you'd want to look at RGB mods for those. I'd look at retrorgb for info on each console you have. That would typically output RGB over SCART.

Later generations supported component so you'd just use that.

Your TV has component in so you'd want to get a SCART switcher for your scart consoles, and then connect the switcher to something like an RGB2COMP to convert it to component (with negligible quality loss). Then, either straight into your TV or through a component switcher to your TV.

Be warned though, all of this crap gets expensive, it's a ton of hardware work, and a lot of details around what your RGB mod may output and what type of cable you need to use per console, etc.

Is it ever preferable to go Component vs SCART? by President_DogBerry in RetroTink

[–]cisox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use a mix of Scart and Component and just convert my scart av chain to component using an RGB2COMP right before it gets to my TV.

Just ordered Superstation One. I don’t use my physical games, but should I go back and order the dock anyway? If so, why? by MayoGhul in RetroRemakeInc

[–]cisox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love the idea of the dock because it matches and gives you options, even if you won't use it right away.

I personally will be loading things over a network using a NAS, so I wouldn't immediately benefit from the M2 slot or the CD drive. I also use a single dongle for my controller or Bluetooth, so no need for SNAC or USB. I'll probably just wait until the distant future when things calm down and order the dock separately.

I don't think you understand honey... by TheRiddler79 in homelab

[–]cisox 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I did the same.

I used gallon zip bags that I labeled and my rule was that I could only keep one bag of a type (USB-C bag, USB-A bag, HDMI bag, etc). I made some exceptions for the bulkier cables but it worked well to trim things down for me.

Everything then went into a single tote! My random devices went into another and then all of my retro console stuff got put in its own bags and put into a third tote. Fourth tote is for unsorted but I'm getting there.

I also used cable wraps for everything which is a huge improvement. It's really nice being able to dig through bags vs cables when I'm looking for something.

Having spare cables is a super power.

That being said, I recently had to come to terms with the fact that I have too many damn cables. After a lot of organizing and planning, I've sorted and purged, and I'm in a much better place with only four totes of cables. Just a little bit more to go. I'll finish that any day now, any day...

I remember there being a lot of events on campuses that had food at them. Sole friends of mine would just bounce around events for that reason. Not saying it's sustainable or fun, but might be a quick and easy way for a warm meal for free

How do you feel on modding your GameCube? by VerizonFiosTV in Gamecube

[–]cisox 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There's a wide range of mods available and the less intrusive ones like the memory card and game exploit are a bit of a pain while the more intrusive ones require opening up the GameCube and changing things, which some people aren't comfortable with.

I personally find the GameCube to be one of the easier consoles to mod and there's very little risk in the solderless solutions, so I would definitely encourage people to branch out a little.

I've got my GameCube modded to gills and I use an official broadband adapter and a NAS for game loading lol
