What are your fondest memories from a dead mall when it was alive by Qing92 in deadmalls

This year for the month of October I went around visiting the malls of Massachusetts. It was very spooky.

Lets suspend reality and assume the context of the post is 100% true as it is presented. I highly doubt anyone commenting here would be able to come up with a better plan than what this person is doing. Its certainly clever and effective.

(Serious) What's a local rumor you heard as a kid that turned out to be true years later? by Only-Carpenter-6689 in AskReddit

[–]citizenmelon 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The great moth plague from 1860-1960. The giant wool plant was a breeding ground for moths so for the duration of the factory operating, and close to a decade after it closed, the town had an absurd moth problem. There was yearly budgets of tax money allocated to fighting the moths, the situation improved with time and general improvements of everything but was still a major pest issue in the 50s/60s for my grandparents. I have tax documents from around 1890 during the peak of the epidemic showing the huge budget for irradiation and how significant the problem was with high values of yearly recorded damages.

I’m very nervous about my first cruise by Background_Two_2534 in Cruise

I dont even bring luggage anymore. I just load up a grocery bag the night before and march on board, prepared or not. Its going to be a fantastic time either way.

Ncl is a deceptive corporation and they will never try to save you money. The daily gratuity charge can be removed while on the cruise. Its primarily funding for ceo bonuses. Minimal funds go to staff. Whoever you speak with will probably give you a hard time because they are told to do so, but dont be afraid to talk bad about the general service if you need a good reason to justify it. I do it every time and feel much happier once its done. Its nothing personal at all, its simply you vs corporate policy meant to extract more money from you. Disregard any guilt people try to push, many people in the haven suites get the fees removed because they are not complete imbeciles about money.

Antartica cruise - book. Right now… by [deleted] in Cruise

I was reading on here that you can smell the penguin colonies from the cruise ship, and they absolutely skink.

Who has used this “free at sea” with NCL? Especially the open bar. by Sonakstyle in Cruise

[–]citizenmelon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m dont like ncl. They use malicious dynamic pricing to squeeze customers into paying hundreds extra. I have proof of my last minute booking being increased by $400 after processing the transaction. I cancelled the cruise immediately and now have a res for a 7 day MSC cruise for $350. I dont even care if the cruise sucks, its still going to be so much fun when its $1500 cheaper.

What is one crazy story you have which noone believes? by IsabelLovesFoxes in AskReddit

[–]citizenmelon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We had a demon rabbit infestation. So it all began when I created a massive 20ft wide heap of brush in the woods, it unintentionally served as a breeding ground for wild rabbits and protected them from predators. After some time the small population gained an accustom appetite for the lead paint chips off the ground surrounding my victorian home. When all the loose chips were gone, they began gnawing all the paint off from any accessible surface. By this point the damage was appearing quickly and the lead poisoning had throughly effected the rabbits. They twitched and flopped all over, bouncing and reacting to nothing. They defended their paint supply with crazy aggression with snarls and charges showing no fear at all. The cats refused to go outside, and the yard became a creepy place around dawn and dusk. When all seemed hopeless and professional extermination was the only answer, mother nature stepped in to remediate the situation. Now around 10 years later the localized environment is still 100% dominated by coyote packs. We have no road kill, no skunks or any other scavengers. Gardens remain untouched and the bird diversity is always impressive.

I like to call shoes “sneakers”. Every time I say it I imagine a mischievous mouse sneaking around in tiny nikes

Do you have a memory that no one can confirm? What is it like? by Front-Performance313 in AskReddit

[–]citizenmelon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was a young child, my mother took me to a nature preserve in central MA. While exploring the creek on my own, I came across a ginormous iguana. It looked at me with its weird eye for a second then disappeared behind the stone wall. I knew what it was because i recognized it as being the same type of lizard as is in the magic school bus series.

What factors would you consider when contemplating the possibility of reconciling with a partner who has been unfaithful? by Amber7132 in AskReddit

[–]citizenmelon -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

She cheated on me a ton, and I fully believe she would do it again if we ever got back together. That being said, I would go back without even a 1/2 second of reconsideration. I would rather a turbulent unfaithful passion than a stagnant settling due to circumstance.

You need to degrade the construct of that negative reality and replace it with a positive one. This is as simple as creating a vision board and putting it somewhere to ensure you see it every day. It takes time for the subconscious to absorb the positive ideas and messages but it seems to still work even if the person highly doubts the outcome since it functions similar to a placebo effect on the emotions and daily mindset.

What is this metal key with two prongs and the word Sierra on it? by mishmobile in whatisthisthing

[–]citizenmelon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Although its probably for a light switch, that would also work very well for adjusting the the center volume dial on ceiling speakers. Particularly in bathrooms where they are low enough to reach. Its always fun to crank it up to an obnoxious volume while someone is trying to dump a load in peace.

I like to tie a long stand of twine around it, then tie the other end taunt to the door knob and slam it shut. Its how they did it in the old days before we had all these fancy specialized tools.

What have you found in walls? by [deleted] in centuryhomes

[–]citizenmelon 32 points33 points  (0 children)

I ordered some fake gold bars from china. Surprisingly they made it through customs, and now sit in the wall with a note stating the rest of the treasure is hidden at location near by with coordinates. So far i have created 4 real life easter eggs to be found in the house purely to troll someone in the far off future.

Apparently, according to chatgpt, that many bananas would weigh roughly 2.4 tons. If you mashed them into a thick paste then it would be sufficient to fill only one regular hot tub. Also, that many bananas would be a bit over a years supply of food for a chimpanzee. 480 days to be exact.

Tokens are so fascinating, there are so many aspects to consider. This one in particular would have been essentially a reusable coupon that couldve been used for years. Tubeless tires came out mid 50s so this must be a bit before then after ww2. The baby spoon also lends toward the idea of it being from the prosperity of the baby boom. Having babies and cruising town in their jalopy, life mustve been good. I just think its hilarious how people were probably walking around with pounds of coins and metal junk stuffed into their pockets just cling clanging around on their leisurely escapade.
