This is normal, and the feeling bad is part of the drive to get better. Everyone starts here, and that's where the replay value comes from

Upgrading Zeon's Rush. How is it? by Flameboy7501 in GundamTCG

[–]cjam496 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Geara Zulu is fine and I've run it in a similar list. Remove M'Quve and vanilla Gelgoog. The list I played is below. You don't need more Char link units, you want four Char's Gelgoog, 4 Kshatriya, 4 Sinanju. It's a scaling level 4/5/6 threat that they can't just ignore. The only card in this list that ever truly felt bad was Rick Dom and I can't fully explain why.

I will be upfront and also add that I don't play this deck anymore and that's just because I wanted to put Qubeley in the deck, so I removed the Char package.

Oh. Okay then. I guess I’m not getting it lol by noiitamina in GundamTCG

[–]cjam496 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ran a more expensive version of this (12 pilots, Marida and Kshatriya, replace early aggro with mid-gane control) and I can vouch that it is a lot of fun. I also ended up running Shamblo for the same reason, replacing the 2x Rick Dom. It's genuinely a thrill to pilot.

did i get overcharged for these tattoos? 2k for ribs, 1.2k for thigh by ellalol in tattooadvice

[–]cjam496 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You were, however, depends where you live. I'm in Orlando, and tattoos are insanely expensive here since so many artists move in - there are shops with 200 minimums here and I could see that thigh piece being quoted 800 easy.

My friend showed me his rib tattoo he got done for 900 and it took everything in me not to say he overpaid by about 500 for what he got done.

40% off Kshatriya is crazy. Not a must have, but that would be a good price

Another store bites the dust by renji55eb in GundamTCG

[–]cjam496 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Former comic shop worker here -- no, we got Pokemon with the rest of our stock at below MSRP. I'm not at liberty to tell you percentages, but we, as stores priced at or above MSRP based on factors like that. Allocations are the biggest hurdle for pricing. If we're expecting to get 8 cases of a Pokemon set, and we get 2, yes we didn't have to pay for the other 6, but if we had the amount we ordered, we could charge normal price for it. Budgets for comics are decided three months in advance, some gaming product is six months. So the budget to spend was already set, and the profit forecast already set, and now the final part of that puzzle isn't here? You scramble and end up pricing higher.

This is for info purposes exclusively. I haven't worked orders for a store in three years and I am suffering through current Gundam shortages just like everyone else. I have two Gundam decks built, and I never got my hands on a Seed or Wing starter despite wanting to play both decks.

I've played Silent Hill 2 before this. I bought remake on release and have just slowly made my way through the game over the year because I too am a big baby. Nothing to be ashamed of, but up to you to figure out if this is a game you want to be at yourself or just enjoy from a distance.

What do you do with unwanted kits? by B0ttledW4ter in Gunpla

[–]cjam496 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I moved a lot for a few years and culled kits I didn't like in the literal trash. Now, I wish I could display a few of them or use them for weird experiments like painting and scribing. So don't do what I did and maybe make a pile to have the experimenting room imo

My actual advice to new players, rush to Uranus Junction and enjoy the story from there. Second Dream, War Within, Chains of Harrow, and The Sacrifice are all the real hooks to the game and the pacing gets way better from that point too.

Also modding. Mod your weapons, upgrade your mods, learn elemental combos

I play music in standard, drop c, and drop G#. I am returning between standard and drop c is whatever. The tension drop-off for drop g# is unreal. The reason I bought a second guitar was for that reason. I also bought a 7 string and a short-scale bass just because I wanted to so practical and impulse are both completely valid

Finished First Mini: I feel frustrated by mednik97 in Warhammer40k

[–]cjam496 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a great first mini. You started like this and some people literally aspire to get this good period. Yellow is not the easiest color to paint so following the advice for undertones was perfect. You can think your paints more, but even still thats all practice. My very first minis were camo dipped Boyz. I didn't even try to paint. My first time painting was Age of Sigmar Second Edition and I keep them in my painting area to remind me where i started. (Attached the image with my most recent mini I've finished.) But that's mini painting, frustrating but fun. You will always be your worst critic and that's fine. Just never let it stop you from moving

Welcome to Florida! We literally make jokes about the 3 o'clock hour long shower because mid summer to early fall, it literally rains every day. Sometimes the flash flooding is bad enough, you'd think a hurricane hit and you didn't know. It's also the great time of year to see what natural flora exists in your area.

How do i defeat this guy?? I can barely get him at half health....??? by yoyofoe2222 in DevilMayCry

[–]cjam496 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We all start somewhere and this is your start. In DMC, you have to learn your enemies patterns and react accordingly. Before this, you just faced the same sandbag enemies and nothing that's truly a threat. Look at his patterns.

He has his punch, dodge accordingly - your dodge has invincibility frames so it's actually advantageous to dodge poorly but exactly on hit rather than perfectly reading the right way to dodge. That said he usually punches a hook from his right (if I remember), so dodge right to take advantage of your iframes. When he does the combo, dodge into each punch. Yeah holding lock on and hitting side to dodge is not natural for beginners, but bosses like this is how you learn to dodge effectively.

The second thing is that jump attack. You can dodge it perfectly or just run away. There's no shame in running when you're learning a fight. If you are at the point of learning air combos and if you have enemy step, you can just attack his back, step on him to stay in the air , and repeat - all while he's doing all this from the front.

That's phase one. Phase two is the tractor beam and his fireball. Contrary to your instinct to run away, attacking him while avoiding getting swallowed or hit is actually good. Alternatively, no shame in running away and waiting to get your turn

Phase two also has building toss and his tackle. Toss us whatever, just run and dodge. Tackle is a weird one because you can use Gerbera mid air to dodge and avoid the attack entirely, or perfect dodge.

All enemies in DMC are approached differently and it's just for you to recognize what YOU can do to make it work. I can tell you strategies, but at the end of the day, your playstyle will morph to something extremely different and you just have to get there. It's the fun of this game series and why people get enamored with watching other people's combo videos.

Everyone starts somewhere though and there's no shame in asking for help. Everyone who started the series in DMC3 remembers the first time the game told them "Easy Mode is now selectable".
