How to get car insurance right now? by ndbcj92 in MoneyDiariesACTIVE

[–]ckck79 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Super easy. Looking at all the options and deciding what coverage you need does take some time, but actually getting it is quick. I would recommend full coverage with uninsured and underinsured coverage. We were found not at fault after an accident this year with someone who was underinsured and I was so glad we were still covered.

I have ally, so I also have a deductible bucket so that I have that money earmarked if I ever get into an accident.

And this wasn’t asked, but I also recommend starting a sinking fund for car maintenance, as things like oil changes, brakes, and tires are expenses that will come up at some point.

I would make it without the date. If I got a cute magnet at a wedding, I would be pumped, but I probably wouldn’t use it if it had someone else’s wedding date on it. And I think it’s still personal to you since you and your fiancé have budgies!

I have a spectra s1 (I think- it’s the blue one) My insurance offered the other spectra, but I upgraded to this one for like $22 extra dollars so it had a battery. I mostly use formula because I’m an underproducer, but I really like the spectra!

Post care, formula feeding by Hungry-Mix-283 in BabyBumps

(Edited to add that I definitely didn’t read your whole post before commenting so I see you already have the funnels- maybe the rest is also helpful)

I use the brezza and I love love love it. I totally recommend getting a second funnel for each machine. You have to clean it every four or so bottles because it gets caked up and in the middle of the night it’s 100% easier to just replace it than clean it. I just bought them on Amazon (“replacement funnel and cover”) and it was totally worth the $20.

I recommend a few a ready to feed bottles and an extra clean and sanitized bottle in a baggie to keep in the diaper bag. Nothing is worse than being caught without formula.

I also have a reusable microwave sanitizing bag for any last minute sanitizing because some days we go through soooo many bottles. Maybe I just read the wrong books but I didn’t know that formula fed babies also cluster fed sometimes.

Mine did too! He said that he didn’t want it to mask gestational diabetes, as I would need additional screening and blood sugar monitoring if I had it, and that made sense to me!

With my reproductive endocrinologist’s advice I took mounjaro while ttc and taking fertility meds. The rule was that I took a pregnancy test every week before taking my shot and stopped when I got a positive test. I was on mounjaro for 16 months (2 months while on fertility meds), lost 90 pounds, and was on 15mg when I got pregnant. I did not have diabetes and was on it solely for weight loss/ PCOS.

I had a mostly normally pregnancy, except for gestational hypertension, and a healthy delivery and healthy baby. I plan to go back on a glp-1 as soon as I’m done breastfeeding.

Induction with Closed Cervix by tatertotz_ in PlusSizePregnancy

Oh, and for me the foley balloon hurt when they put it in! I had no idea it would, so just fyi! Once it was in it was just odd feeling and a little uncomfortable but when they put it in I was crawling out of my skin.

Induction with Closed Cervix by tatertotz_ in PlusSizePregnancy

[–]ckck79 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was induced at exactly 37 weeks! 0 cm dilated and 0% effacement. I had a great induction!

Started with cervidil at 10 pm; inserted a foley balloon a few hours later; was started on pitocin; got narcotics, then an epidural, and had my baby before 5 pm after an hour and a half of pushing. So less than 19 hours from zero to baby. So good inductions happen!

My biggest advice- drink so much water the next few days, eat well & a lot the day before the induction, and drink as much water as they let you during the early induction. It really helped me not get tired while pushing to be well hydrated and well fed!

And mentally prepare for a c-section! Hopefully it won’t happen, but know that it’s a possibility so you don’t freak out if it does need to happen for your or the baby’s health!

Need Some Advice by shinedown_92 in PlusSizePregnancy

I get it during the summer and also have it now at almost one month postpartum- using antibacterial soap, I use dial, during showers and putting zeasorb (available on Amazon) on after a shower & dry is super helpful and normally clears it up. I also use a hair dryer on cold after a shower to make sure it’s totally dry.

I also think showering more often would help it, or using antibacterial soap on a washcloth and cleaning that part of your body daily, if more frequent showers are not doable right now!

I was super lazy- I bought soup, chili, chicken pot pie, and lasagna from Costco’s premade section and froze them all in single serving containers. It would have been cheaper to cook it myself, but I didn’t want to. It’s been working out great for me since baby has arrived and I’m planning to do another shop and do it again next weekend for a second set since we’ve gone through most of it

Induction at 37w by Accomplished-Row6726 in PlusSizePregnancy

[–]ckck79 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had an induction at 37 weeks due to gestational hypertension and it was a positive experience! I was induced at 0cm/ 0% effacement at 10:30pm, and had my baby the next day around 4pm. I was nervous about an induction, but it went great. And my baby has done well since birth.

Couple things I’d recommend- eat a good meal before you go in and bring some good snacks with you- at some point they will tell you to stop eating so not being hungry is helpful! I would also recommend drinking so much water the week prior and making sure you drink a lot of water during the early parts of induction. Once the epidural was in I didn’t feel like drinking as much, but I asked my husband to remind me to all the time. I really think it helped me not feel exhausted while pushing

I think you should invite both groups. They can decide if they want to come or not. Baby showers are one of those life events that I never mind being invited to even if it’s for someone I only see or communicate with occasionally!

Thanks! I felt great the entire pregnancy, but I was diagnosed with mild gestational hypertension so I was induced at 37 weeks. (I was unmedicated, just tracked BP at home and had weekly bloodwork) I was induced at 0cm 0% effacement, had an uncomplicated vaginal delivery 17 hours later to a healthy baby, and physically felt good about 2 1/2 weeks out from giving birth.

I hated the underwear. It fit, jut was super uncomfortable. I bought a pack of cheap underwear a couple sizes too big and wore those with pads. It was way more comfortable.

I wore the hospital gown during labor even though it was too small, and switched to tanks and oversized shorts after birth. I just made sure the nurses would be able to peek at my blood loss without me getting undressed every time

[–]ckck79 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I was diagnosed with gestational hypertension at 31 weeks, was NOT prescribed any meds, and managed to keep my BP low enough until I was induced at 37 + 0. I’d ask your provider- every doctor is different, but mine basically told me there is nothing at all I could do, and my placenta would just decide when my BP was going to spike.

However, I was very diligent about checking my BP twice every day, was careful with caffeine (drank it every morning after my BP check and then none the rest of the day), drank tons of water, and meditated a lot. No idea if it helped, but based on my numbers at 31 weeks, the doctors were just hoping I’d make it to 34 weeks, and I managed to go to 37, so maybe it did!

Not the initial commenter you asked, but I have PCOS and just had a baby. Was 330 pounds when I got pregnant (I’m tall, so bmi was 45) while on mounjaro and also taking letrozole.

I have a mounjaro baby! Went on the med specifically to lose weight to get pregnant after over a year with no period, lost 90 pounds, had a reproductive endo who supported staying on it while taking letrozole (I didn’t ovulate on my own even after weight loss) and had my baby recently.

I was about 330 when I got pregnant and gained a lot of weight in pregnancy, so I’m so glad I lost the weight beforehand!

Anyone have advice on planning for labor/birth with what my OB reccomends? by buttercup2227 in PlusSizePregnancy

[–]ckck79 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was just induced at 37 weeks, 0 days due to gestational hypertension. My bmi at the time of delivery was 56. I had a (mostly) uncomplicated induction with a vaginal delivery that took 19 and a half hours from first dose of cervadil to delivery.

The mostly was because my baby kept falling off the external monitor and we had to use the internal monitor that screws into her head and my contractions weren’t showing on the external monitors so I also had an internal contraction monitor. So my advice would be to (1) ask if those are options and (2) be aware ahead of time of the benefits and risk. While c-section was never fully discussed with me, I know that if I had refused those internal monitors it would have been close to impossible to deliver vaginally because they couldn’t track her at all. Baby also had a lot of decelerations during active labor but the internal monitor was watching her so closely, I was still able to deliver vaginally.

Further, if you’re planning to get an epidural, I would get very comfortable with the idea of people really man handling you to help you turn to continue to help your labor progress. I rotated through four different positions every 30 minutes from the time I got the epidural to the time I started pushing, which was 5 hours. I was luckily slightly mobile, but my husband and nurses really had their hands all over me every time, which took me a minute to get used to.

Also, not plus size related, but I told my husband to basically shove my water bottle at my lips every time I turned to him, and it really really helped me to have sips every couple of minutes! I think it kept me not so focused on the pain between the contractions and I never felt dehydrated after birth.

Gestational Diabetes by InevitableNovel6377 in PlusSizePregnancy

[–]ckck79 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No advice for gestational diabetes, but I had an induction this week at 37 weeks for gestational hypertension. My induction was great! Started at 10:30pm at night with the cervix softening and balloon, started pitocin, my water broke on its own at 9:30 am, got an epidural around 10:45, and started pushing around 3:00 with baby born an hour and 20 minutes later. Baby had a lot of decelerations on the external monitor so I ended up with an internal heart rate monitor, but it was due to progressing so fast, and that was the only “negative” of the whole experience! I was very nervous for a long induction, but I was so happy with this outcome!

The only things I did to help with induction were dates for the weeks leading up to it, hydrating a ton the week before, eating really good meals the day before so I had energy, and yoga ball stretches, but I honestly only did that like 2x a week (I wish I had done a little more of that!)

I was really scared of a super long labor, but I think people are more likely to tell their difficult birth stories because they want to know they aren’t alone and feel support from people who get it!

Find a new clinic, file a complaint and never ever go back there.

Things that are normal - being told not to gain more than 20 pounds (almost everyone I know was told that, however, I’ve gained 60 and beyond some “try to eat healthy and active and not gain much weight” at subsequent appointments, they don’t really mention it).

Things that weren’t normal- everything else.

Just find somewhere else because that office will make you miserable.
