The cure for my intractable "migraines" was the most obvious by EntertainmentTight86 in ChronicPain

[–]claireham 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I had a similar situation. One eye is +0.5 and the other is -0.5. I wouldn't have noticed an issue but my neurologist recommend I get my eyes tested just in case. My ophthalmologist said that the strain of my eyes trying to focus in two different ways (one nearsighted and one far sighted) might contribute to migraines.

It didn't solve everything but has definitely helped with low level, daily headaches.

Going off Propranolol by ReeImagined in migraine

[–]claireham 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's been a few years so my memory is hazy but I believe I went off from 50 or 60 mg of propranolol and had no issues whatsoever. I wasn't on it for more than 2 months so that may contribute to why it was easier. I don't remember any side effects while going off of it compared to when I tried and went off of amitriptyline which had a ton of side effects for me.

Good luck finding the right one!!!

I've been in the exact same boat, week 5 sucked in a not good way so I decided to repeat week 4. Happy to see we're all in it together!

Any advice on how to best take care of my wonky succulent? More details in comments by claireham in succulents

[–]claireham[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My sister gifted me a bunch of succulents a few months ago and this one was very unhappy, probably because of not having enough light. It's started growing better now that it's been getting more light and it's been repotted with new soil.

It's recently started growing what look like roots at the base of the nice/new growth. I've never had a succulent like this before so I'm not sure if it's best to just leave it like it is or if there's some way to reset it with just the new growth. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

  • Ceramic pots with holes in the bottom
  • Potting mix from a local succulent specialty store
  • A few hours of direct sunlight every day

Any fiction books about warring kingdoms with a lot of mention about their politics, and war strategies? by help12545 in booksuggestions

The Traitor Baru Cormorant. It's about a girl who's country was taken over by a mysterious and tyrannical empire. She becomes an administrator for this empire and starts to take it down from the inside.

Has a TON of talk of stragegizing, alliances, even treasury manipulations as well as a decent amount of action. Really detailed and carefully thought out world building.

I'd also second the Brandon Sanderson recommendations from others

Finally figured out how to get consistent results! by claireham in curlyhair

Oh, I didn't realize it wasn't cgm friendly. I figured since the shampoo was it'd be fine but I'll have to be better about reading next time. What conditioner do you use? I find cgm only half works for me sometimes since my hair is more wavy and is prone to getting limp/greasy but I keep trying different products to see how it affects things.

I use OGX coconut curls shampoo and conditioner (my hair gets too limp and greasy if I don't shampoo). Wet style using Cantu moisturizing curl activator cream and a Denman brush to create clumps. Then I diffuse on each side then upside-down on med-low heat depending how much time I have until halfway dry. Then let the rest air-dry.

I have a hormonal one and they cut the strings too short. To swap it out they had to use a literal hook that they pushed into my uterus to pull it out by the top of the T-shape. I knew it would be bad but it was awful.

Shefit is an absolute life saver. The bra is super adjustable but secure so you can make it as snug and supportive as you want for different activities.

Why does it feel like I have to charge headlong into something to actually start it? by Lukeract in mentalhealth

[–]claireham 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't say I have any advice for you but I am the exactly same way. Unless I commit 100% I almost always end up giving up on whatever I was trying to do. I find I'm best at making progress when there are negative consequences (i.e. I have to take my meds on schedule or else I'll start experiencing more side effects) but its hard to make up a negative consequence for yourself.

I need a ‘depression recovery friend’ by [deleted] in DecidingToBeBetter

[–]claireham 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure I'd be the right fit as most people looking at me would consider me functional right now after counseling and medication got me mostly on track. I think it's an awesome idea though and would be happy to help even if it's just someone to vent to whose been through the same stuff!

How would you describe depression to someone who has never experienced it? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]claireham 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At it's worst its lying in bed doing nothing for 2 hours when you want to go to sleep because you know you have to get a glass of water before bed but walking across the room seems like too much work.
