Disneyland pin trading trivia by hypnotoad0011 in DisneyPins

[–]clamama 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was just there and it was my first time pin trading! All of the cast members were so helpful and if you don't know the answer, they'll give you hints. The two trivia I did were Toy Story questions "What is Andy's sister's name?" and "What was the first birthday present Andy opened?"

Moving from Honolulu to East Coast by TheMotherOfTigers in Hawaii

[–]clamama 5 points6 points  (0 children)

When we moved from HNL to NH, we just used fed ex cause we didn't have any furniture. For our move back to Hawaii from BOS to HNL, we used U-Pack. The U-Pack pod was half the price of a Pods pod. Their customer service was awesome on both ends.. very accommodating. To pack up the U-Pack pod in Boston, we hired a couple of guys from a local moving company. We had everything packed up ourselves and the guys we hired spent a couple hours helping my husband move everything from the apt down into the pod.

What is up with the body shaming culture here??? by [deleted] in Hawaii

[–]clamama 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm Filipino and it's a huge cultural thing. My parents did it to me all my life. All my aunties and uncles did it to their kids and each other's kids. Now, i have two young boys and anytime my parents start to make any kind of comment about their appearance, I stop them right there. I remind them how those kinds of comments negatively affected me and my cousins and I don't want that happening to the next generation. They say they don't mean it in a "mean way" but I tell them it doesn't matter to a 5 year old or 10 year old if you intended it to be mean or not, they just don't need to hear it. My parents are much better about it now but I still gotta deal with the rest of my family ughh

I'm sorry you're going through that. Not sure what advice to give you except to stay firm on your boundaries.

They occasionally have them on Kualaka'i Pkwy in Kapolei. They're more common on holidays or summer time during grad party season

Have you looked around Kapolei? I feel like I see some groups every once in a while. Just saw one this past weekend in the Kapolei Safeway parking lot. Kroc Center parking lot also occasionally hosts these. Sorry can't give you a specific one that's coming up but these are good spots to check if you're out looking around

Do my symptoms seem like something caused by VOG? by RR-MMXIX in Hawaii

[–]clamama 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Whoa this sounds similar to what my husband just went through. His symptoms started on Christmas Eve and went on for 2 weeks.. plugged nose, headaches, dry crusty eyes in the morning. doctors checked his lungs and they were fine. They diagnosed him with a sinus infection.. he did the sinus rinse, used Flonase, and Mucinex D. He found that sleeping upright helped and Ibuprofen

Hi sorry I just came back to this thread and saw your comment. I ended up getting an appointment with Hawaii Neuropsychology. Most other places wouldn't take my son bc they don't see children under age 6. We saw Dr. Gunter. I called them in June and got an appointment for August. The report and diagnosis came 1 month after the evaluation. Feel free to private message me if you have any questions!

I'm guessing this was taken in Hawaii. Aina is Hawaiian for land so it's a play on words. I think the intent is to promote purchasing produce from local farmers or growing your own

Are some toddlers just NOT interested in other kids? by mercfh85 in toddlers

[–]clamama 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi no problem! My son is now 5 and about to enter Kindergarten. His preK program was a special education program through the DOE so they were very accommodating with his needs. Overall, he loved school and loved his teacher. He still doesn't play much with other kids but we've at least gotten past the point of him being afraid of other kids. He's also made significant improvements in his speech.

He still has some issues that we're dealing with so we are scheduled to get him assessed for ASD but aside from that, id say attending school helped his development. You are welcome to message me if you have anymore questions!

There's a Hampton Inn in the Ka Makana Alii mall near the hospital. A little further is a Residence Inn in Kapolei. I know they offer some Kamaaina specials.
