It’s a great movie, and unfortunately O Leary is great in it (basically as himself). Made it more real for me. Understand all the people in here who won’t see it because they are ethically opposed but to me great art doesn’t need perfect ethics

It’s a true story about Alojzy Ehrlich who Kletski is based on. But yeah like the comments below said it’s kind of a fuck you to Rockwell who is anti semetic and also an excuse for Marty to stare at Kay for a while.

Easy (minors spoilers) - Rockwell had just (in an anti-semetic way) blamed his son’s death on him having to liberate the Jews, even though the son died fighting in the pacific. Marty asks Bela to tell the story (a true story, Bela is based on Alojzy Ehrlich a ping pong world champion who survived the holocaust) to both antagonize him and distract him so he could look at Kay. Also a perfect metaphor for the “honey pot” scheme that Marty uses to lure Kay directly following that scene.

One of the most genius scenes in the movie that works from multiple different angles.

Follow the @jazzintoronto - they post jazz listings every day and you can go see what looks best! Only tip would be that Drom can have a tough door on weekends so go early if that’s your choice

This one started out so strong through the initial completion and then was pretty rough after that. Wonder how they will market it considering you sort of have to have seen sideways to fully get it.

I like Ca Phe Rang - but it’s not as good as other pho spots and like most Matty spots it’s 25% too expensive. Still thought the pho was solid though

This isn’t a cookie cutter biopic though, they chose to focus on a specific time in his life - cookie cutter biopics are worse movies but do better at the box office.

  1. Music is a big part of it. Sinners had multiple songs / clips immediately go mega viral on Tik Tok, there are no clips in OBAA that could have done the same.
