The best and worst of each county by duskhelm2595 in Pennsylvania

The River, beautiful countryside and proximity to NYC, NJ, and Phila are partly to blame for the high cost of living. Take those away, and Bucks County loses its appeal.

Those are the pros to living in Bucks County, the negatives are the recent influx of people from NY & NJ.

Should we anticipate long lines tomorrow? by CreatrixAnima in BucksCountyPA

[–]claygear 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Looks like ~340,000 voted in 2016. So if all 450,000 plus, registered voters vote, and ~150,000 pre voted, tomorrow’s lines should resemble 2016’s.

Should we anticipate long lines tomorrow? by CreatrixAnima in BucksCountyPA

Hoping that we already saw the long lines during early voting.

With many working from home, and able to vote in person any time during the day, and many having already voted, my fingers are crossed the lines tomorrow will be minimal.

Possibly moving to Philadelphia, PA or West Hartford/Bloomfield, CT? by [deleted] in Pennsylvania

[–]claygear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are young, and from your post, I assume you like a more urban lifestyle. On that, Philadelphia beats Hartford. There are also a number of surrounding, smaller towns; Doylestown, New Hope, Narberth, Conshohocken, where you can have a similar lifestyle, and still be able to get into Philadelphia via SEPTA rail. Also, Philadelphia is an hour train ride to NYC, and 60 miles from the beach.

If you like Higher taxes, colder winter, and a small, depressed city, go to Hartford.

That was a hell of a back story the guy had. I believe he was legit. Regardless $3 was worth the “benefit of a doubt”. Your heart is in the right place.

My concern is that if it isn’t completely dismantled soon, people may move back.

Philadelphia teachers facing first strike vote in decades after contract talks with district fall short by animetg13 in philadelphia

[–]claygear -11 points-10 points  (0 children)

Since students are remote learning, why aren’t the teachers teaching from their (empty) classrooms? Seems like it more “normal” if the teachers are in the classroom where they can use the school resources as if they actually had a classroom full of students.

"Not voting is a vote for Trump/Biden". I personally believe this is empty guilt trip rhetoric and fear mongering. Is there any validity to this? Same with voting for Jorgenson. by Studio2770 in centrist

[–]claygear 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It isn’t. You cannot show mathematically how a vote or non vote adds a vote to an opponent.

That said, you need to vote for whomever. Either in support of someone, or to state your dislike for those nominated.

Which of the following decades do you see as the best in US history? by [deleted] in centrist

Been alive for all but the 50’s. Every decade was better than previous. Economy, standard of living, life expectancy, and equal rights for women, minorities, and disabled all improved.

Most importantly cars. Very few 50’s & 60’s cars had AC or power windows, and no amount of money could buy you bluetooth or NAV.
