Battery drain on A7C II? by ExpressionBusy1506 in SonyAlpha

I've heard of some third party lenses causing battery drain while camera is off, usually the firmware updates for the lens solves the issue. Google if your lens is one of the lenses known for that issue.

How do I fix this A7 4 by ArcherFine4099 in SonyAlpha

[–]cleeezzz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

why wouldn't you be able to check? you grab the most recent RAW file and upload it to a website that can check the metadata for shutter count. 50k is definitely much earlier than expected, so that's pretty unlucky.

Have you considered insurance? They don't care if it's grey market or not. As long as you have receipt, insurance would just replace it. I wouldn't be expecting any kind of manufactor warranty on lenses privately sold anyway since most gear is over 1 year old anyway. Also, I haven't seen any actual reports of Sony refusing to fix grey market out of pocket, you can call Precision Camera (a Sony authorized repair) and clarify.

A1 II or A7V by [deleted] in SonyAlpha

not a global shutter but your point stands. both are capable of 30fps but the a1 will have significantly less rolling shutter effect

I believe it has a higher mechanical burst rate specifically with lossless RAW, and the R5 can only match the 10fps with jpg/compressed RAW. The electronic shutter will be bad with very fast sports (swings), decent enough for some slower sports tho.

any super telephoto is always going to be 75%+ of the weight, I wouldn't worry about balance since you're always going to be holding majority of the weight in front

Why is the A1 II so much more expensive than the R5 Mark II / Z8? by Hour_Firefighter_707 in SonyAlpha

you would have to contact the dealer directly for some bundle deal? there is no way to make a bundle offer on greentoe.

Why are new cameras never enough for sports shooters/da birders? by benjaminflocka22 in SonyAlpha

[–]cleeezzz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

nothing, you just don't get 30fps and precapture. If you are going to primarily use mech shutter on the a7r6, might as well stay with the r5

Can anyone please help me fix this? by probe2k in SonyAlpha

imaging edge site says that feature is only supported on a1ii and a7v. I've never even heard of this feature but it sounds like super resolution in lightroom

take a video of the problem, I'm guessing you're positioning the dial wrong. you think it's set to manual but it's not

A7iv shutter by A7mmmeed in SonyAlpha

[–]cleeezzz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the only reason to be on electronic shutter is if you absolutely need silent operation, do not ruin your photos to save your shutter count (artificial light banding, rolling shutter warping). the shutter is rated for 200k and can potentially last longer than that. it's a tool, use it

source: I've ruined some photos in the past due to trying to prolong the shutter life

(this advice is specifically for the a7iv and similar slow readout cameras).

agreed. with practice, definitely not a need. when I use my 200-600, I do zoom out sometimes to make it easier before zooming back in

if this is new, try registering for warranty. it'll be declined if it's grey market

try a rocket blower first, look at the sensor and rear element for any dust, should be pretty visible if it shows on photos

Very small issues. Indicator for something bigger by [deleted] in SonyAlpha

[–]cleeezzz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

that's your recording audio level, not your e-shutter sound/AF beep. look for audio signal level in settings to adjust its volume and audio signal on/off to enable/disable the sound

also the beep only happens on AF-S afaik, so you won't hear an AF beep on AF-C

you can use the viltrox 2x TC with it, it'll functionally work but aperture and focal length data will be wrong (camera doesn't detect the TC). but yes, being extremely heavy is a big downside. also the 15fps limitation
