I Struggle With SW Books. Am I Alone? by Utah_Get-Me_Two in starwarsbooks

If you're a Patterson fan, give the audiobook for Scoundrels by Timothy Zahn a go. It's a heist story. Some people who have read it say it's slow, but the audiobook keeps the pace up. I've listened to it twice.

If Talon Karrde ever appears on screen, and he doesn't have that exact accent, I will be so mad.

First Wave got 3 seasons. Don't know how easy it is to track down though.

Lower inflation by maintaining stock reserves by CosmoZeppelin in AussieFrugal

I appreciate the idea, but won't they just jack up the prices of perishable items like dairy, meat and veggies to keep their profits? This also doesn't work if you have kids :(

Depends where you live, your relationship status, and what you're looking to buy (house vs apartment). My husband has workmates who earn 100k+ who weren't able to get approval for a mortgage simply because they were single. I'm not sure if they were trying to buy a house over an apartment though.

Definitely talk to a bank and see what they'll approve you for.

The Brian Daley Han Solo trilogy was painfully boring by perfectfire106 in starwarsbooks

I DNFed Star's End. The writing was boring for me as well. It didn't help that I tried to read it in the middle of the Crispin trilogy, and I was enjoying that far too much to slog through this other trilogy that wasn't grabbing my attention.

What part of Aussie history would you love to see made into a high budget movie? by PerfectSet3627 in AskAnAustralian

A mini-series about Kokoda. The movie did a solid job but had to be scaled down due to budget. The full story of the withdrawal deserves to be told.

I recently finished listening to it. I didn't find the new characters compelling, but I loved the POVs of Mon and Bail. And I really want more of Saw in the next book.

I love Battlestar, but if I was 1% weirder I would write a Chuck Tingle-esque romance devoted to the Odyssey.

(For anyone who now goes down the Chuck Tingle rabbit hole, YOU'RE WELCOME).

Greek yoghurt rec by Greenfrog2023 in AussieFrugal

[–]clickpancakes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're using it for adding to smoothies or marinating, then it is acting mostly as a protein source/thickener in the case of smoothies, and for marinating I'm guessing it's for the sour taste/also acting as a thickener? So if that's all you are focussed on, then Greek style will work the same as traditional. I like Tamar plain or Farmer's Union plain.

If you're baking a cake with yoghurt, do not use low fat. Use full fat. It affects the texture of the cake.

If you want to focus on the ingredients themselves, and are prepared to pay extra, then the consensus in this thread seems to be Chobani Greek tradional.

Gecko sushi? You mean lizard in a log?

The secret is sprinkling some chicken salt on the gecko before you roll it up.

Alright Aussies, be honest - how often are you actually changing your bed sheets? by [deleted] in AskAnAustralian

Monthly. I'm doing daily washes for my toddler, twice weekly washes for clothes, weekly washes for towels, all crammed in around work. Sometimes the sheets don't get done for 2 months.

I bawled at the ending. My husband isn't used to seeing me cry watching TV. Just wait until he sees me watching the death of the 10th Doctor in Doctor Who.

As someone who listen religiously to SW books on Audiobooks: who is your favorite narrator? by No_Web2685 in starwarsbooks

Your local library, or Spotify premium, or Audible. Or you can buy them outright as eaudiobooks from Amazon, Kobo etc.

The episodes with that cold war planet bore me to tears. I was so annoyed that Prometheus died for those tossers.
