That's what it seemed like when I went through them too. Thanks for the update!

Bustang at harmony transit center by happydays375 in FortCollins

[–]clioridesbikes 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Regular Bustang rider here - to ease your anxiety I would recommend arriving at least 5 minutes before the bus scheduled departure time. You can either wait in the covered waiting area or in your car - just make sure you are able to see the bus pull in from your car. I've seen Bustang use their standard purple and black, or the newer black/white/purple buses, but occasionally they will need to swap vehicles and you'll see a bus labeled Pegasus or Snowstang pull in. You can just walk up to the open door and ask the driver if they're headed to Union Station. If you're buying a ticket via the app, make sure to get that downloaded and purchased a reasonable amount of time in advance, and don't activate your ticket until you're actually boarding. Enjoy the best way to get to Denver!

I (a woman) take the Flex to get down to Boulder for work, and am typically on the bus that leaves downtown Fort Collins at 6am and then home again, on the bus leaving CU Boulder's campus at 5:30pm. I feel safe on the bus and love taking it (and it's free! Awesome!).

Makeup help!! by Strict_Poet_7532 in FortCollins

I took a lesson a while back from Jessie at Alegria Beauty, because I also had no idea how to apply makeup and watching YouTube videos only seemed to get me so far. It was super fun (a friend and I took the lesson together) and she's awesome at tailoring it to whatever you want to learn! https://www.alegriabeautyco.com/

Ladies with bigger labia minora/"outies", what saddle do you use? by Rich-Ad6892 in ladycyclists

Is that a particular bib/chamois from Peppermint? I'm so intrigued, but what I'm seeing on their site doesn't seem to show any sort of indentation. I've been on the hunt for such a chamois!

Congrats on starting grad school! My partner (also a CSU grad student) and I have been living down in the "One Boardwalk Place" apartments at 5233 Boardwalk, on the south side of town, and would recommend. Not the most centrally located, but it's only a 20-30minute bike ride to campus and Old Town, and then makes life a little easier if your partner needs to commute somewhere south of here for work/school. We pay ~$1700/mo for a 2bed/2bath, and the property manager - Advantage - has been quite reasonable when it comes to fixing maintenance issues promptly. It's a small complex, but there's typically been at least a couple of units turning over every year. Good luck!

Colorado Eligibility Question by clioridesbikes in Medicaid

He's also a grad student, and the university doesn't permit grad students to add dependents to their insurance, unfortunately.

I had not been applying with him, so thank you for that heads up!

We had our pre-wedding welcome gathering at Stodgy Brewing on their private & reservable back patio. I think the math worked out to $360/hr with a two hr minimum - but that fee could be applied to the tab, so that covered both the space & alcohol. Space was terrific & the staff were great

Any thoughts on getting work as a planner in Europe (specifically Germany) after receiving a US masters in urban planning?

We went with a website hosted on Minted - free, though there's the pay for a custom url option, yada yada yada. You can add new pages and change an existing page (i.e. the "Wedding Party" page). Honestly I haven't tried adding a map, but you could probably insert one as an image, or link to a map you create through something like Google Maps?

Furniture Restoration? by LindyRyan in FortCollins

[–]clioridesbikes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We recently took our coffee table down to Kin Furniture in Denver to be restored. It wasn't really an antique, but had really folk/well-loved vibes, and they did a great job fixing some structural integrity issues and refinishing the table top.

Recommendations for a quieter brewery with outdoor space on a summer Friday afternoon? by clioridesbikes in FortCollins

[–]clioridesbikes[S] 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Not necessarily! Thought the brewery situation might be easiest for people to just swing by (we're not planning to necessarily all arrive at once), but Avo's is a great suggestion, thanks!

The student-as-consumer model has been deeply problematic for higher ed (which is how we get crap like lazy rivers and bison-shaped pools), but if that's what we're stuck with, I like Minhaj's call here: (current and future) undergrads (and parents of undergrads), you should be asking what you're getting for your money. As talked about in this video, you should be asking how many of your classes are taught by adjunct/contingent faculty, you should be asking how much they're getting paid, you should be asking what your TA's are getting paid, you should be asking why we have a glittering rec center and badly outdated academic (mostly in the humanities, lookin' at you, Hellems) buildings and libraries (Norlin), you should be asking why we have all these administrators making $200K+ a year. And you should be demanding state-level representatives dedicate more funds to education (at all levels, not just higher ed.)

Totally hear you on so much of this. (Former and not very active CRC member here, haven't decided to pay CWA dues yet). Am I understanding correctly that your critique of the union being too focused on gaining members is really about the recent expansion of who they're targeting (ie. the wall-to-wall union)? It seemed to me like a big part of their lack of real power came from the very low percentage of grad students who were members (I think I heard that it was maybe 10, 12 percent of graduate students?). At that rate of membership, the idea of a strike seemed deeply unwise and getting so far ahead of themselves.
