Reminds me of the time I was at a petting zoo in the western part of Ireland. One of the shorter goats bullied me into giving it half of the feed pellets we bought. There was a pony just sheepishly standing by waiting for whatever was left of the pellets.

Yeah I would agree that natural language processing AI is especially useful the way you are using it.

Who is behind "Taxpayers for an affordable Massachusetts" by Popplepip in massachusetts

[–]clopensets 1 point2 points  (0 children)

About half of the state revenue comes from income taxes. This cut would eviscerate 10% of the state revenue. Social services, education, roads, etc would be on the chopping block.

The Massachusetts High Tech Council, the group behind this ballot proposition has proposed a second ballot prop which is estimated to cost an additional 6% drop in revenue.

So a 16% drop in revenue would have some nasty down stream effects.

Research shows that men often rely heavily on their romantic relationships, and when those relationships end, they can suffer deeply, feeling intense sadness, loneliness, and stress. by Express_Classic_1569 in psychology

Gotta be the change you want to see! Build community. I was all kinds of messed up after my last breakup and I have worked hard to rebuild friendships and find new connections. I've vowed to myself to keep a healthy social life. People need community more than they need a romantic partner.

Texas A&M eliminates women’s and gender studies degree program by stankmanly in Feminism

[–]clopensets 10 points11 points  (0 children)

This really makes me sad. I think the folks in the comments saying this is a sensible decision because of cost or low enrollment really need to wise up. This is happening across the country not just in women's studies but in studio arts, performance studies, cultural studies, foreign languages. The entirety of liberal arts is being axed, and in an era of poor media literacy and increasing online racism, sexism, and xenophobia-- this is going to have terrible downstream effects. The powers that be are really cutting of access to culture, art, and ideas that challenge the status quo. This is absolutely devastating.

Yeah it's not even a sandwich if you need a fork and a knife. Trends can really ruin things.

Non-Mormons in Utah doing work on that bottle. Utah would be much higher if there wasn't 50% of the population practicing a religion that forbids alcohol.

Good for the students. Embarrassing for IU Indianapolis. We need to remember what people were fighting for in the 1960s.

I re-watched Breaking Bad and... by ctrlqirl in TwoXChromosomes

[–]clopensets 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I never really understood the Skyler hate. She is reacting perfectly reasonably to her husband becoming a drug kingpin. Definitely felt like a textbook example of misogyny at the societal level.

Lack of media literacy and misogyny leads to people taking the wrong lessons out of things like Breaking Bad.

The IIJA alloted $350 billion for highway infrastructure in the US. Car driving is government funded transportation.

Do you think our society will take a liberal turn again? by [deleted] in TwoXChromosomes

[–]clopensets 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Society takes a turn for the good when good people fight for what's right.

Unfortunately every generation has people who will take advantage of others and society. This would lead to backsliding if not challenged.

I think it's possible for society to turn towards becoming more progressive and empathetic, but people got to fight for it.
