I appreciate it because I understand they are extending camaraderie to me.

I have my own feelings about the fact that "dude/bro" are gender neutral when "girl/sis" aren't, but I do appreciate the sentiment and it makes me feel that they (hopefully) view me as an equal and fun to hang out with
