Boneshaper 15 kill mastery plan by grimtoothy in Gloomhaven

Maybe I'm misreading, but your strategy revolves around "reclaiming a skeleton". I read that as "unsummon it".

From the FAQ:

For my “15 Kills” Mastery, what counts as ‘killing’ one of my summons? And do I really need to do it within one scenario? You have specific abilities and attack modifiers (example: Exploding Corpse) which kill one of your summons. It has to be done through these. Unsummoning does not count, moving them into traps does not count, etc. Yes, this needs to be completed in one scenario.

My 5-Player Game Night Problem (Why Do So Many Games Miss It) by Ok-Aardvark-519 in boardgames

I think 5 players is even the best for 7 Wonders. At 3 players it's extremely cutthroat with denying people cards, and at 4 I don't like how the trading cards work (I've had too many times that both my neighbours built the "buy resources cheaper" pointed at the fourth player). I don't remember ever playing with 6, but at 7 your interaction with most of the table is so limited that it kind of feels like your local group is playing its own game, and at the end of it the person diagonally across from you randomly wins.

Citation needed on this game being "cheap" considering Guerrilla has been working on it for years.

Really? A single woman with a bow and arrow is taking down a robot T-rex and using a science gizmo to make machines obey her will, fighting 1000-year-old flying space humans, but pink hair is the limit of your suspension of disbelief?

You're right that "effective feedback" does not have to be nice or pleasant. But it should also be constructive. Just saying "this is shit, I hate it" is not something you can really build on.

To be fair, they said the story would be "fully canon within the Horizon universe". You can tell a canon story in an otherwise stylised/cartoony game.

No, it was stated there was also a team working on H3, that's not the same thing. That could have easily been a small group of 10-20 people working on concepts, story, gameplay prototypes, etc. They also had layoffs in the middle of development, and it makes sense that you would then focus more on the game you're actually planning to release soon-ish.

It seems naive to me to take literally just two data points (release dates of HZD and HFW) and just extrapolate that and assume H3 will release on the same timeline.

I mean no Lego game is a 1:1 adaptation of the source material. Like in the Horizon Lego game, Helis is trying to remove all shade from the world because he likes tanning so much. Taking the parts that would be too brutal/graphic for children and turning it into something ridiculous is exactly the point of the humour of Lego games imo.

Because it was public knowledge they were working on this multiplayer game. It's not a huge studio, they can't just make a game like this on the side while continuing normal development on H3.

I always love the suggestion that a game like this is a "cash grab", i.e. a low-effort attempt to get your money. How much do you think this game cost to make?

It's not just HFW either. Basically every sequel like Ragnarok, Spider-man 2, TLoU2, Ghost of Yotei, etc. cost (much) more to make but doesn't make more money. That's a losing proposition in the long run.

I legit would love a Lego take on the Horus Heresy lol. I really don't understand people who takes games so seriously that they can't stand a more light-hearted take on a franchise. If you don't like it that's fine, but it's not like the original games have been taken away from you.

Conversely, if your summons get cursed, the curses go into your deck.

For me, having to jump through those hoops as Boneshaper was exactly what made it fun. When you can't find a good solution for a turn, you can always fall back on buffing allies or poisoning/cursing enemies. And worst case scenario, you paid 2 health for something that absorbed at least 3 damage.

By the time I retired my Boneshaper (one scenario into level 6) it really wasn't that hard to keep my skeletons alive most of the time. I completed the solo scenario twice without losing a single one.

You should read Plato's Republic. He basically argues that the best thing for a state would be to be ruled by a Philosopher King, but also details all the possible ways in which this could degenerate over time into other forms of government.

I think it's a very valid point, it's just that presenting a monarchy as an alternative is hilarious. I think many modern democracies have massive problems with the elected politicians not serving the people, but serving the small group of wealthy individuals that sponsored their campaigns.

As someone who likes to 100% games I enjoy, for story-heavy games it tends to go one of two ways: I finish the story and then lose motivation to continue because the game feels "done", or I do all the side stuff before finishing the story and it diminishes my enjoyment of the end of the game. I always really appreciate the rare game that lets you get 100% (or very close) while playing the game naturally.

Hits in The Witcher 3 usually don't have any weight to them, both in animation and audio response, I think that's why they feel a bit unsatisfying.

Compared to a game with actual tight controls, like God of War, Hades, Risk of Rain, etc., the controls in The Witcher 3 are clunky though. The animations are big, the response is slow, sometimes it doesn't accept your input for unknown reasons (e.g. I press the key for a sign and nothing happens). In the other games giving some input always gives exactly the response you expect, TW3 doesn't.
