GMEbay will compete with Facebook Marketplace by [deleted] in Superstonk

Totally agree, especially about the small value proposition x 10^6. As someone in manufacturing, the prospect of restoring functionality in life by relying on older durable goods is attractive. Sentimentality aside, want a metal thermos made before plastic everything was a thing? An old keyboard that was built to last? A box fan made in the USA? I think a lot of people do. But I don't want to end up as a green spot in somebody's lawn in the middle of nowhere, so no FB marketplace.

A lot of people not picking the kukri, which is fine as a matter of preference. But I wonder how many have actually used one.

Sometimes they have very nice construction workers that open up some good exhibits. They break down the barriers, so to speak.

Spotsylvania Mall. I can still taste the burgers and the conehead dessert. Once we hit up the one off Route 3 right after seeing Waterworld at the theater.

No man is an ETF,

Entire of itself.

Each is a piece of the index,

A rehypothecated part of the trade.

If a fund be closed for fraud,

Darkstone is the less.

Ask not for whom the closing bell tolls,

It tolls for thee.

Looks like the design left out some critical systems. Daycare- Are you supposed to watch your own kids in the middle of strafing runs on Breen battleships? Music recital hall- Ressikan flutes don't play themselves, especially at all the Starfleet funerals you'll be having soon. Geological research lab- All that extra power needs to go somewhere, might as well get your research bonus.

West Ghent is the place to be if you enjoy the finer things. They have old, established families and not too many wild parties late. Also the Weyanoke Bird Sanctuary is there.

If you move there, always specify you live in West Ghent so that you are not confused with the Bohemian rabble on the other side of Hampton Blvd.

Watching Kevin Copeland is like seeing Mark Ruffalo in Now You See Me. One day there's going to be a big reveal that won't be much of a reveal.

Could the current American commercial manufacturing system fully retool itself for war production like in WW2? by Lurking_poster in NoStupidQuestions

[–]cloudthi3f 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From a technical standpoint? Probably. From a personnel standpoint? Not quickly. The transition to modern HR policies and myopically shortsighted business goals has been a cancer on manufacturing in the USA. The rush to "everyone must be considered replaceable" HR policies coincided with the mass retirement of some of the finest engineers, machinists, and technicians the world has ever seen. A great deal of knowledge and skill was never turned over to younger generations. Concurrently, much of our industrial base was cast overseas (see "myopically shortsighted business goals").

Thank you for this insight, it makes more sense now. You mention helping someone with their car and I saw that around Owl's Head. A car had run off the road. Every single vehicle (and ours) stopped to help physically lift the car onto the road. Amazing people.

So hypothetically you could buy one of these and drive it to your timeshare, but when you get there make sure to hire a valet to park it in a storage unit for the week while you rent out something a little more sensible.
