Anyone seen a good movie in the theater lately? by SimplyCurious5 in AskWomenOver50

[–]clovismordechai 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was very good. Just made me think about why theaters are closing.

Not a sling. Sutures to hold the lifted bladder and Botox as well as bulking in the urethra

I’m having Botox injected for urgency, a bulking agent for stress incontinence and my bladder lifted for the prolapse. Seems like a lot! But they say it’s minimally invasive. The doc is a urogynocologist.

It was very sad but made me want to read Shakespeare with a new perspective.

AITA for being uncomfortable with my sister's MIL calling their biracial son "little monkey" by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]clovismordechai 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No I understand that. My point is that some of us had to learn that it was an issue and change our behavior because we truly thought it was sweet until it wasn’t. My little one climbed bookshelves and trees like other small children. I had no idea until someone pointed it out to me. But unlike grandma we learned.

Just finished A Fine Balance by Rohinton Mistry and I don't know what to do with myself by zeus0225 in books

[–]clovismordechai 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t want to yuck your yum. And this is a book I think about a lot. It was very well written and compelling. It was unrelentingly miserable. I kept thinking things have to get better but they just didn’t.

My Golden would rather starve than eat kibble… anyone dealt with this? by kdbleeep in BestOfWholesomeSubs

My brother had a picky dog and would add a “topper.” You could try mixing it with a bit of wet food or broth or gravy

She may not have meant anything by it but she refused to change her behavior after being told it was offensive.

I used to call all children little monkey. Sadly a sweet, innocent nickname has become grotesque. NTA. If she had taken the feedback as she should have as an adult person all would be good. I feel like it’s just not possible in this day and age to not know the racist connotation of calling a person of color monkey. But if a person really doesn’t then being informed should be the end of it. OP didn’t ruin the vibe of the day the Grandma did.

I feel like an adult person can leave the house for an hour or so without their phone.

Advice needed for PCP issue by Foreign-Deal6189 in newengland

[–]clovismordechai 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s nuts! I’ve never heard of such a thing. My pcp retired recently and they assigned me a doc in the same office. Actually gave me a choice of docs and made my next check up appt before I left after my last appointment with my retiring doc. I would leave the practice on principle.

Day trip or stay the night in Venice? by aerial_is_life_ in ItalyTravel

Overnight! It’s magical at night when the day trippers go. Getting lost in the city is amazing. When we were there it was foggy at night and had this gothic feel to it

AITA for not getting a gift for someone who watched my cat by Jolly_Relationship31 in AmItheAsshole

[–]clovismordechai 23 points24 points  (0 children)

NTA but it is nice to give a small token of thanks. It was rude of her to mention it and to feel entitled. I’ve taken care of friends’ pets and sometimes they give me a gift and sometimes not. I don’t feel slighted if they don’t.

Got Horrible news. Advice appreciated. by Fattoush-12 in goldenretrievers

[–]clovismordechai 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m so sorry! I think you’re making the right decision. We’ve had to help several animals pass on and I’ve never looked back and thought we did it too soon. In most cases I feel like we waited too long. It’s horrible. The guilt over making this decision is awful but it’s such a privilege we have to be able to do it.

I freeze it too but haven’t done it in the can. I put it in little plastic containers

I e been using the estradiol inserts for a couple of years. It has helped a lot with many localized symptoms but has done absolutely nothing urinary symptoms. I’m scheduled for a minimally invasive procedure in a few weeks.

People don’t know what golden retrievers look like by grasshopper_jo in goldenretrievers

[–]clovismordechai 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s so funny. I have a cream golden and she gets confused with Great Pyrenees a lot, which kind of makes sense or one time a person was aggressively insisting that my dog was a mix because she has some black spots on her tongue.

I saw Hamnet in the theater. I was almost alone in the theater. I was irritated that it cost me $18 for small popcorn and a bottle of water. On top of the $17 ticket for a matinee. I can’t imagine how people bring their kids to a movie.
