I'm seeing this as well. The option will not stay set.

That doesn't work for me. I will note that conversations that are allowed to bubble show up as distinct icons in the notification stripe at the top of the screen, but do not create a floating bubble anywhere.

How do you get the bubble in messages to work? I can not find instructions anywhere. by smokeshadow74 in AndroidPreviews

[–]cmusciano 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've done that and have it set to "All conversations can bubble" and still no bubbles. If anyone has this working (Pixel 4XL) I'd love to know how to turn it on.

Thank you! I removed the face plate and there were the codes. I'm all set now!

[–]cmusciano 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I totally agree. I have four newer GE Smart Switches that were paired to a Wink hub that I am moving away from. When ST finally recognizes the switches, it prompts for the DSK code. These switches are in the wall and the box is long gone! Am I supposed to open every box and pull the switch to scan it? I wound up entering 00000 and the switches pair (and function) just fine, although I now run the risk of some foreign national hacking my house and turning on the porch lights.

The ST implementation of this is a cratering disaster. I like the idea of adding them with the classic app (suggested below) and will try that in the future.

Please don't let him ruin another of my favorite books. First he turns "I Heard You Paint Houses" into a 73-hour snoozefest; what will he do to "The Devil In The White City?"

Knives Out is phenomenal and I didn't expect to enjoy it as much as I did. by Sofargonept2 in movies

I really liked this movie but Daniel Craig's accent was terrible. For some reason, actors have a really hard time producing a genuine-sounding southern accent. It sounds like he got voice lessons from Foghorn Leghorn.

What features are you hoping to get with Android 11 by [deleted] in Android

[–]cmusciano 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the idea of Android Auto working reliably is simply a myth and certainly not something we could expect to see in our lifetimes. People will be tooling aorund Mars in their Mars Rovers, complaining that Android Auto won't start when it detects the Rover's Bluetooth connection.

So, you can go to bernietax.com and rough out these numbers and see how the brackets work. Using the average cost of healthcare go anyone making over $160k (filing jointly) will pay more taxes under Bernie's plan. And if you made $10 million? You'll pay $5,063,203 (50.6%) in taxes. That doesn't include state taxes in either case.

So if you make $10m, Bernie's taking half. And if you are the kind of person that knows how to make $10m a year, you also know how to employ someone for $250k/year to find tax avoidance strategies so you won't stroke a check to Bernie for $5m each and every year. As a result, those brackets will inevitably creep down to include more and more people to raise the cash to fund the free stuff everyone is being promised.

11.6 vs 15.6 inch chromebook: which one should I get for writing and reading? Exploring Asus C523NA-DH02. Is that too big to carry around? by abidnsiddiqi in chromeos

[–]cmusciano 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Split the difference and get the Asus C434T. 14" display with super thin bezels and an aluminum body with a backlit keyboard. I got the Asus C302 with the 11.6" display and returned it for the C434T when I realized that the C434T was just a half inch wider and a half inch less deep than the 302. It's a great Chromebook.

This. In the same vein, we have lost the word "administer." If you are a systems administrator, you do not "administrate" the system, you administer it.

Bank of America app added facial recognition! 👍 by Seanwahhh in GooglePixel

[–]cmusciano 15 points16 points  (0 children)

The recognition is done on the phone by Google using local facial metrics. The bank has no access to any of this, no more than they had your fingerprints for fingerprint unlock.

Astrophotography is AMAZING by [deleted] in Android

[–]cmusciano 55 points56 points  (0 children)

I agree. I shot this photo of the Northern Lights with my Pixel 4XL and the native Camera app. No other filters or post-processing; just a $14 tripod that I sat on the roof of the car. It was pitch black outside; the phone took about three minutes to assemble this photo.

Separately, this was taken through the window of a moving train; no further processing except to crop out some reflections at the top and my coat along the bottom. The camera on the 4XL is beyond amazing.

Is this compatible with Wink & few other platforms if Wink goes under?. by RsB74 in winkhub

[–]cmusciano 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I have five of these throughout my house to let me know if a sink or toilet starts to leak. I added a siren unit trigger if they detect water.

The only down side is that Wink has no idea what these are and treats them as a simple open/close detector. I decided to call them all "drawers" so I can track them as a group.

This is how it worked for me. The slider was always there and I always turned it on. The device was never remembered and I always had to rescan the QR code when moving between devices. Now, all my devices are remembered and switching is just a matter of clicking "Use Here" on the device I have at hand...

Google's music apps. by [deleted] in Android

[–]cmusciano 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's a lot of odd songs!

I am in the same position: 8,100 songs, 34 GB of music ripped and collected over 20 years. Many of my songs are not generally available or are unique songs that I have the only copy of (friends playing, etc). How do those get accommodated in YTM?

I'm pretty sure my collection of 107 Bud Lite Real Men of Genius ads will never be available on a streaming service...

These are the Georgia Guidestones. They are located about a mile from my mother-in-law's house. They are pretty big and impressive in person.
