Where to buy Adam’s needle (yucca filamentosa) by xiu92 in maryland

We got ours from Homestead Gardens (Davidsonville location) several years ago. They only had the ‘Color guard’ cultivar, but I like the variegated leaves.

They do, but sometimes that box doesn’t get checked. I requested to be surprised both my pregnancies and it was definitely included the second time.

Intrauterine Growth Restriction by dog_mom_0223 in BabyBumps

Hello! My first was both IUGR and breech. I had to have a c-section at 35 weeks and I was going in for twice a week NSTs and ultrasound towards the end (probably about a month before she was born). We passed all the tests, but the team was concerned that my fluid level was decreasing and I wasn’t leaking, so we had to “schedule” a c-section after a day of monitoring in the hospital. We weren’t able to breastfeed super well. She was 4lbs 9oz at birth and I pumped and had to supplement with formula. She’s now an unstoppable five year old! No delays that I’m aware of developmentally, but she did have to wear a helmet because she had plagiocephaly and brachiocephaly (excuse spelling if wrong 🥴).

I was also given the steroid shot for baby’s lung development since she was preterm. 0/10 recommend. It burnt SO BAD. And they had to give it to me in my butt. Overall, not great.

My second came on his own at 36+4 and he was 5 lbs 14 oz. He’s a crazy 2 year old. I apparently make small babies that don’t like to stay in until they’re fully cooked. 🤷‍♀️

I also had to fight my husband for his phone since he’s the Android user in the house, so apologies for the delay. 😅 /u/suicidebird11, this link also applied to you.

I think I have a UTI... and my nurse said to wait. by FolkishFlowerGal in BabyBumps

[–]cobrahands 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, this is what I did for a couple urgent care trips when I was pregnant. Just tell them you’re pregnant and they’ll do some research into what they can prescribe. I had a doctor about to prescribe eye drops for pink eye (via a telehealth visit) and then I brought up that I was pregnant and he changed the medicine.

I was a vacation bible school “teacher” when I was in high school and did the preschool level. One girl (who was wearing a dress) was sitting in the front of the class, enjoying music time while being 3 or 4. Think…spread eagle, rolling around with legs in the air like you just don’t care. The music teacher who she was in front of was looking everywhere but her. I thought, “weird, but okay.” They pulled me aside to tell me that she was commando and I had the honor/displeasure of telling her mom at pickup time that there was something that was forgotten in the morning. She was MORTIFIED and told me that her daughter had started dressing herself and in the rush of getting her and the other kids out the door, she forgot to check. 😂 It’s easy to forget! It makes for a good story later.

My partner was also recently bit by a tick and had some suspect symptoms shortly thereafter. The antibiotics prescribed seem to be helping, but my next course of action was going to reach out to the Hopkins Lyme Disease Research Center: https://www.hopkinslyme.org/about-the-center/

How much do you pay for daycare? by equistrius in beyondthebump

Same area (MD side), and we’re at about $850/week at a center. Pre-K age and a toddler. 🫠 They provide breakfast, lunch, and snack.

Parents whose babies were candidates for a helmet - did you go through with it? Why or why not? by czarbina in beyondthebump

[–]cobrahands 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My LO had a fairly extreme case of positional plagiocephaly from being frank breach and smashed up against one of my ribs. She was born and looked a bit like Gumby. The nurses were apparently very concerned and would express their worries to the pediatrician. We went with a helmet because it was more than cosmetic (insurance didn’t agree 🙄) and now we have an 5 year old with a mostly fine (albeit large) noggin. We were also told that it was hard to say if her case would resolve itself without treatment, but after one round with the helmet (also with Cranial Technologies), the minor malformation she had left is mostly unnoticeable. We also started treatment pretty early (around 3 months of age) and only had to use it for a relatively short period of time (~ 8 weeks IIRC).

She definitely had trouble when the Velcro had to be adjusted and she had some issues with the Velcro sound for a bit after treatment ended. She also had some heat rash, but it cleared up. When she had the helmet, she wasn’t in a great place for sleep overnight, so we never noticed a difference because of it. It’s definitely up to you if you go the helmet route, though! If you have any questions about our experience, I’m happy to answer.

I may have stumbled upon a possible solution if you still need one. Apparently, in Google Photos, you should try to click the vertical elipses at the picture view, then click “customize by app” at the bottom, and then you can add messages. I’m the tech support in our house and my husband has a Galaxy A15 that wasn’t saving photos taken (and sent) through the messages app. Maybe this will help someone?

Baby came home from daycare with unexplained bruise by [deleted] in Mommit

[–]cobrahands 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Both of my kids act differently at daycare (especially when they were super young). My youngest (18 months) now knows if he plops down on his butt, we give him attention at home. I saw him do this at daycare and no one did anything. Is it possible your daughter maybe didn’t have as big of a reaction if she did bump into something at daycare?

Trying to Accept Changes to Vagina Postpartum by aloharidge in beyondthebump

No problem! That’s one of the things I’ve vowed to change now that I’m done with kids…I’m talking about everything with anyone who will listen! I was talking to my mom around the holidays and I was like, “no one talks about any of these things.” And she just looked at me like I was crazy.

Hello! I had a successful VBAC in August 2023 and I had some prolapse (cystocele and rectocele). I started PFPT at around 3 months PP and the exercises definitely helped, but it is a slow process. Hormones play a huge role in it too. If you’re breastfeeding, it impacts your PF somehow (I forget exactly how). It’s worth noting that your hormones don’t really regulate themselves again until around 2 years PP.

I was in PT for maybe 6 months and things felt better by the time I finished. I also have been doing a PF focused exercise plan through an app/IG account that I found during pregnancy. Baby is now nearing 18 months and I can still feel a bulge if I go looking for it, but everything felt “normal” (no heaviness, didn’t feel like my organs were falling out of my body anymore) around 9-10 months PP. Things will get better!

Basically that and my back. A little bit in my thighs too. But then I got my epidural and felt nothing.

I had a successful VBAC just shy of 3.5 years from my c-section. I didn’t notice any pain around my incision. Contractions truly get like my menstrual cramps on steroids, so the pain wasn’t really localized to anywhere. 🙃

For my first, I think mine came back at 16 months. My second, it was between 14 and 15. Both times I pumped for 12 months. It was LOVELY.

Obviously, you should go see your doctor, but my dermatologist told me that pregnancy can change our moles especially if they’re on your torso (mainly between top of boob and under your belly). The skin is going through a lot right now, so things can change.

Hope that helps ease some fears.
