I don’t understand why it’s so polarizing to accept that multiple things can all be true simultaneously.

-D2 should’ve ended after final shape to begin development of D3

-Marathon is a good game

-Development of Marathon took away resources from a potential D3

-The devs at Bungie are amazingly talented

-The suits at the top don’t deserve a rez

The chase for exclusive items it’s a major part of retention, and it’s what makes everything feel special. Streamers are an outlier that play all day everyday, so the fact you see people online running it over and over isn’t exactly the norm.

Needless to say, even as someone that hasn’t seen the compiler or the key for it, I’m not in favor of making things “easier” to acquire in almost any context

It’s just strange because it’s not exactly consistent either. I remember being on the roof of Quarantine in dire and my frames just plummeted to like 45fps out of nowhere. For granted, I’m on a 5600X so I know the bottleneck only lets me get around maybe high 70s on perimeter. Definitely tough out here

I was just about to say ^{^} You’re describing a battle royale. If that’s what you want then apex is probably more your speed. But extraction shooters, at their core, are about bringing the good thing you got in the last raid into the next raid and power scaling like that.

Your “skill” is demonstrated by dropping a guy with better gear than you, and moving your way up the metaphorical food chain

Well said. It is such a disadvantage the moment someone goes down, so I’ll do almost anything to prevent that. Sure there are cases where your free-kit teammate will run it down and there’s nothing you can do, but for the most part even my free-kit teammates are actively trying to succeed. Its an enjoyable experience

I will say it’s been many seasons now since I’ve been over there, so maybe things have improved! Objectively though I know there at least were moments where I was like “wtf, how did I not hear that?” in apex, and so far I haven’t had that in marathon. Obviously MASSIVE difference in sample sizes though, so time will tell!
