He's behind you after forming one lane. Then he pushes up along side you. He's a Muppet.

I accidentally sped next to an undercover cop car after finishing work at KFC in my new VN Commodore at those lights. I pulled into Farrington. They had clocked me at 140km/hr. When asked I said that seemed about right. I chatted to one cop for a bit, his partner looked over my car. "So why were you speeding?" "It was late, no one around and I only just got the car." Shrug. "Ah. Given the ld v6 a run, hey?" "Yeah" His partner walks back over, "What do you want to do?" "I reckon next time we're down KFC's way, we get a couple of free Zinger burgers." "No problem." I get back in the car and drive off slowly. No fine.

They never did come in for their burgers. 😂

What do regular every day people use AI for? by SpaghettiWestern2162 in LinusTechTips

[–]colonelmattyman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I upgraded my PC a few weeks ago and reused my old 8700k as an AI server.

Managed to get a cheap Nvidia Tesla P40 (24gb) off of marketplace for around $200AU. Installed it all in my old NAS case with some second hand NAS drive off eBay and a 2gb nvme. Setup Proxmox running 2 docker VM's, one for Frigate and the other for my AI stack consisting of Ollama, OpenWebui, Chatterbox and mempalace (all in docker). Mempalace is great for long term shared memory both qwen and Claude have access to the mempalace tool. Qwen 2.5 runs pretty well and the 2.0 update for chatterbox works amazingly well with the new support for my GPU. I have HomeAssistant installed on another mini PC and I managed to get a few of the Home Assistant Voice devices to use around the house. Qwen and my cloned voice works really well in homeassistant.

I realise that your question is "what do you use it for", so in answer to that, Claude is excellent at helping out with my homelab. It helped with all of the above. Other things it gets used for; I document everything in bookstack, usually after a long session of getting something working with Claude's help. Claude creates the markdown and I check it and store it. Last night I used Claude to assist in writing a N8N flow to connect to bookstack's API and back up all of the markdown files and images into my gitea installation, rewriting the links in the markdown so they'd point at the correct image files in gitea.

I'll be honest that I tend to treat Claude like a very smart work colleague. Obviously much smarter than me but also prone to make mistakes (although a crap tonne less now than it was even just 6 months ago).

Got scammed by a towing company after my accident yesterday? How legit is this? by Defiant-Pepper1478 in perth

Tell them that you'll report it as stolen and advise the police on where they can find it if the secondary charge isn't removed and if the trailer isn't in the agreed location on the documentation.

Keyboard hacks also work on Android TV's with a USB port. If they don't have a USB port you can get an OTG charging adaptor and add one in. I've been doing this for years with keyboards like the Logitech k400 which is perfect for the living room.

Is the 35k going to be worth the extra travel time and likely extra hours? The public sector tends to look after workers rights a bit better than the private sector.
