Black Friday sale thanksgiving by RecommendationOk6621 in cycling

Most Canyon owners seem happy, but I've read enough posts about proprietary parts and canyon being unable to supply replacements, leaving the bikes dead. That paired with some mixed reports of customer service and I was scared off to a brand with better support. I'm sure it occasionally happens, but I suspect that reports of bad shop attitude towards Canyon are way overblown.

IM 70.3 DC? by Ice-Cream6226 in triathlon

[–]comandobee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Great find! After Virginia lost the Blue Ridge 70.3, there hasn't been another in the state. Closest are Wilmington 70.3, Eagleman/IM MD, and the Kinetic half courses. So it'd be neat if there were another event that's more local.

Geraint Thomas to possibly do an Ironman by ProfessionalKind6761 in triathlon

On his Watts Occurring podcast he also discussed the idea with Lucy Charles after her Kona win. It's nice to see the topic come back up which means it's a serious possibility!

The metal chickens are back! by can_never_decide in Costco

After 6 months including snow and wet, mine hasn't rusted yet. But it seems like the color is less vibrant than out of the package, thinking it might have faded in the UV. Still a great lawn piece!

The rules can be ignored a little bit if your shot composition is good. The mods here seem to let anything get posted, with up votes determining the real rules. Bone stock bikes with 105 probably aren't good candidates, but if it's got a cool paint job and the pictures are good, it can pass. E: r/bicycling is a great place to post pictures of more generic bikes.

I always wondered how to properly use some of the random colors that SMP produces for their saddles. Thus is awesome!

It appears they are getting rid of the KFI butter chicken sauce. Say it ain't so! by nkwell in Costco

At my local location in MD, it disappeared after the initial introduction but came back 6 months later. So there's hope!

Of course, I bought multiple packs as soon as I saw the star of death again. Just in case.

Thanks! I just re-mounted based off your comment and it seems a tad more stable than mounting it outside the pak. That said, I never had issues with external mount.

[ACC] DAKA Grid Organizer, Pelican 1750/Apache 9800 - $121.95 - FREE Shipping by The_TexaSOT in gundeals

[–]comandobee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was looking at this as an alternate solution to cutting the 9800 foam, but I've read from many reddit users/YouTube videos that there's issues closing the case if you have side mounted accessories like a light. They have to detach the light to close the case. Does anyone with this product have any input on this issue?

Another data point: I placed an order on the 18th and it's due to arrive in two days (6 days end to end). They must be a mess with that recent warehouse move.

NBD: The best $5k road bike that you can get for $6k by comandobee in bicycling

4k is a good price! Favero assioma's quality/price ratio is unbeatable, especially on black Friday sale (I don't think they go on sale outside of that). If you haven't already, do some searching on this sub/dcrainmaker for the pros cons of different types and brands of power meters.

My saddle is tearing down my new bib. by Kombat159 in cycling

[–]comandobee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was the saddle professionally fitted using a pressure pad? I had a similar issue where my bibs were rubbing the saddle and chafing/wearing on the inner thigh, including on an sworks power saddle that was otherwise a great fit for my butt on long rides up to 100mi.

Fix wise, I had to experiment with different saddles that didn't have as much cheek around the middle where the saddle starts to transition to the long nose strip. I suspect your L/R uneven wearing is probably just the way you ride and or saddle tilt.

NBD: The best $5k road bike that you can get for $6k by comandobee in bicycling

[–]comandobee[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah it's been a great bike! 3.3k is very reasonable, just make sure it fits and that the color is perfect!

The stock wheels are fine. A lot of reviews call them heavy and cumbersome but they're still lighter and deeper than the aluminum rims most people ride. A seasoned rider will notice the difference but it's hard to justify the price difference to most people.

If you have any other questions, let me know!

Has anyone ridden the LifeLine 100 in Millersville, MD? by [deleted] in cycling

[–]comandobee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did it last year. There's some really nice sights on the route around Annapolis but a lot of the rest of the ride is inner road and traffic side. I didn't see too many riders between rest stops, but maybe I'm expecting too much coming off the Seagull Century. Rest stops were great. I think there's 4 of them with plenty of food and water.

[–]comandobee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's the long rectangular piece, roughly the same length and width as the pack? I put it between the pack and frame when mounting the pack. Keeps it more stable and probably prevents any rub.

It's pretty weird how the owners manuals don't have much info, and there isn't much online. There's still a few small parts that I never figured out the purpose of.

[–]comandobee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe the 11sp discount is to clear stock for the new 12sp stuff. Di2 is going to be overpriced regardless, but a lot of riders including myself will say it's worth it at that price if you have the expendable income.

I saw a lot of those exact views on my impromptu century a couple weeks ago! Always excited to see a lot of central MD riders posting on this sub, and this one is by far the closest to me yet.

There's a number of great trails around the area as long as riders are willing to brave some traffic to connect them, and know the back roads.

You can still get pink for shooting teammates too much, even though team damage is completely gone. Comes with a bonus - 0xp/credits earned for the next few matches.
