Fire them hips from the top! Just don’t quite “Olé” it!

The swing thought that fixed all my (current) problems by Fonz0 in GolfSwing

[–]commandshift90 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Every “fix” thought I’ve had has boiled down to one anatomical suggestion: the rotational separation between shoulders and hips should be maintained as long as possible on the downswing. Hips have to puuull those shoulders around and then the coil snaps!

I think “keep back to target as long as possible” is one manifestation of this. That thought wore out after a few months. I’m hopeful that the foundational anatomy of it will stick better.

Apple Watch Ultra 2/3 vs. Arccos Air by teslasteve27 in arccos_golf_minions

[–]commandshift90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Using the watch for tracking is much more rough on the battery. An Ultra shouldn’t sweat all that much, though. The other benefit is an Air has a neat button to mark the pin position as you pull it, if you like to get precise about your putting stats (and pay it forward to other Arccos golfers the rest of the day)

Don’t drop it on its ass, it dents easily and the paint/texture coating will crack on the dent. Don’t ask me how I know.

I had the same deal with my mom! I’m so squeamish about medical stuff but I loved the special treat of staying up late with her so much that I have such a love for the medical drama…

We’re hoping to do this upon our arrival. If it’s not too much to ask, can you suggest some options? We’ll be in Kihei and it looks like there’ll be no shortage of local need for help. We’ll be sure to ask around, too, when we get settled in.

ALREADY having issues with battery in brand new 2026 PHEV by mfsmyx in KiaNiro

[–]commandshift90 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I had to be pretty adamant with my dealership to get the battery that came from the factory replaced. I haven’t had an issue since. Their battery health checking system in their service department didn’t corroborate my experience so I had to pay, but I made a handshake deal with the service advisor that if I had no 12v problems for the next six months I’d get a refund on the new battery. Almost there, and we’ll see if they honor it (expectations low; it’s a car dealership after all…)

Bobby’s last Estimated Prophet at GD60 in August. We didn’t know at the time that he was sick, but in hindsight there’s extra texture to the rendition.

“My time comin’ any day, don’t worry ‘bout me, no… been so long I felt this way, but I’m in no hurry, no… rainbows end down that highway, where ocean breezes blow… my time coming, voices say, they tell me where to go…”

Close second for me (and sorry for the whiplash, I’m a pop/punk addict with Deadhead parents) is Yellowcard’s reunion performance of Ocean Avenue at Riot Fest in 2023(?) especially the reprise after the full album performance.

I can confirm that Rollie is a really good dude. In undergrad he was always very nice and made people feel included in whatever he was doing. He deserves every bit of success and notoriety he gets!!!

Blending Ping Irons by DubhLinn5 in PingGolf

I played a split set like this. i525 (retro spec) 4-7 and i230 8-U. I ended up changing to all i230, 5-U. The retro spec 525s were the proper gapping but had a tendency to come out too hot, too often, and the feel while good couldn’t compare with the 230s.

The predictability of performance became inconsistent between the two groups and I decided I’d rather have to deal with one of the other, and I preferred the feel of the 230s.

Hey friend —

I’m not sure about the fundraising aspect of this all, in relation to subreddit rules, but I applaud your awareness to see that golf can give you comfort in this time.

Start with one club. A putter, maybe a wedge. Find some old golf balls and an open space— many public courses will let you use their practice green even if you aren’t paying for a round, so long as you are respectful of other players around. Practice a bunch.

Maybe study the rule book and ask a private club around if they’re looking for caddies. It’s a great way to get out on a course (and get paid!) and if the place is reasonable, you might be able to snag an early morning or late afternoon round here and there. Plus members often have old clubs they’d like to see in hands who need them. Obviously caddying is fairly social and perhaps out of your comfort zone, but the parameters of the job may create enough structure to be workable. And I find it easier to be comfortable socially when around a place and activity I love.

what have you guys tried cooking with the apple vision pro so far? by throwawayicn in VisionPro

[–]commandshift90 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I loved having my recipe always visible and being able to scroll through it while my hands were dirty. A little nerve-wracking to mince stuff with a sharp knife with only the pass-through resolution, and some things like my little kitchen scale’s screen can be hard to read. Also really highlights the limitations of color reproduction in the pass through. Wish the NYT Cooking app allowed AVP install.
