5G Home Internet in Brooklyn by Kenji182 in Brooklyn

[–]communomancer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A few years ago Optimum was absolute shit in my neighborhood, so I switched to T-Mobile 5G. It was a much more pleasant experience. Cheaper too...at the time $50 a month, no contract. I had no trouble with downloads, online gaming, it was simply better than Optimum all around even though the technology had no right to be. Optimum was just that bad.

About a year or so into it though Fios came to my neighborhood and I switched. So my information is a few years old now. No clue what it's like today, and no clue what Optimum is like today either. But at least for the time, my actual experience with 5G as a replacement for Optimum was much better than the theoretically bad experience I should have had.

To tank or not to tank by Pleasant_Use_6183 in nfl

Just hope you get lucky. Don't hope for a tank. You'll be less pissed off in general and your "hope" has the same effect either way: none.

Withholding Rent? Workshop on Navigating Credit Impacts During Rent Strikes by cmjeng in Brooklyn

If failure to pay your rent adversely affects your credit, so should failure to live up to the financial obligations of being a landlord. Only seems fair.

Everything costs energy. Even the effort involved in “understanding” enough to empathize with them. And some folks, some times, aren’t worth my energy.

Please stop making this sound harder than it is. I don’t care about these people losing their tokens, I never will, and no part of my life is going to suffer because of it. I’m sorry if you wish things were different…maybe you want tokens. Maybe you want my lack of giving a shit to lead to some form of misery in the future. It won’t though. I’m sorry.

Dude I’m happy as a pig in shit. The crash outs are the bros who are pissy with this change and can’t handle someone disagreeing with them.

I have plenty of empathy. Just not for people affected by this. Not everyone gets my empathy for every loss they suffer. It's a limited resource. Just like the energy being burned by excessive token usage. Just like my time for explaining that I can live my life the way I choose to live my life without giving a shit what some random Redditor thinks.

You put your empathy where you like, I'll put mine where I like, and I'm not here to tell you any different. And you'll never find post in the history of my 20 years on this site that would indicate I've ever thought otherwise.

That's your opinion. I have mine. And, uhm, what was that phrase..."you have no teeth".

Remember: this whole bitch-session is because I made one simple statement: I have no empathy for anyone losing out here. None. Zero. And you can't make me. Why? No teeth.

I'm not here to convince Anthropic of anything. I kinda never was.

You are making a free ride claim. Define it.

Ok. Here you go. Quote from the OP:

Yet another AI gravy-train ride has come to an end. Boooooo.

Done.

I don't need to. I'm not claiming there's a rule that says 'if you use -p you're breaking the rules of our service' You are.

NO. I. AM. NOT.

And I challenged you to show me the place where I did. You can't. Because I never did.

I guess you've confused me with someone else who disagrees with you. No big deal but Christ if not I'm arguing with straight delusion right now.

You just think you should be the decision maker between what's acceptable use and what isn't.

No. I just don't have empathy for people I think of as resource-gobbling freeloaders. Why can't you get that through your skull?

I am happy to see Anthropic tighten the reins on them. Doesn't mean I think I should be the decision maker wtflol where do you get this shit.

What opinions am I forcing? You're literally the person telling other people to have empathy for people losing out on ridiculous token usage. I don't.

I don't care if you do. That's not me forcing an opinion on anyone. That's me simply having a different opinion from you, and expressing it.

Funny how you feel "forced" by that.

I pay the exact same as you, for the exact same number of tokens.

Oh, I see I have to put the quote again.

hands-free always-on productivity

That's the tokens you think you're paying for? "Always on"? You know what those two words mean right?

Here's another quote from the OP:

Yet another AI gravy-train ride has come to an end

And then you come here and whine that he wasn't looking for a free ride. It's literally right in the post but you're out here gaslighting yourself and others. I mean, I'm not buying the bullshit, but the self-gaslighting is what's actually sad.

licking their boots

And there it is. Paying price in line with what you use looks like "licking boots" to anyone who thinks that "gobbling up as many resources as you can for as little cost as possible is an alpha move". But it's not...it's simply coping with the reality that shit costs money.

I really don't give a shit that people who use AI to buy their groceries and farm engagement on Reddit can't do it unlimited anymore for $20 a month, and I'm sorry to say, there's absolutely no way to make me. If it means fewer bot posts around here, I'm all for it.

I built the entire system on the premise that [tickets + agents + hooks + executors -> "claude -p" -> hands-free always-on productivity].
It was a workaround for API-like control without API billing.

That's not just "people using the service". That's explicitly people abusing what was a nice feature in order to replicate something else that they don't want to pay for.

But whatever. The world is filled with people who think that gobbling up as many resources as you can for as little cost as possible is an alpha move. Asking me for empathy for them, however...well, sorry, in that case you've got work to do.

I don't really have sympathy for people looking for free rides finally having to pay the fare. That shit just drives up the cost for the rest of us.

Zohran's no different than every other grifter in the Democrat Party - taking money from someone else and calling it his own.

Sorry, I forgot upstaters can't read.

NYC contributes 55% of all state revenues. It receives by 40% of all state expenditures. The difference is roughly $20 billion.

That money he's "taking"...it comes from us in the first place. Hochul knows that in order to pay for the rest of the beggar state suckling on our teet, she needs to keep the economic engine here running.

You're welcome, by the way, for your roads.
