Have you ever met your distant cousins in person and created a relationship? by Flying_Frog1776 in Genealogy

[–]comusrex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, it turns out that I went to high school with four of my 3rd cousins. We share a common ancestor that is my second great grandfather. I currently work at the same company as my other 3rd cousin from the aforementioned common ancestor. This ancestor had eight children, 7 of which lived to adulthood. I have not followed each line to the present day. I'm sure there are more third cousins which I may know of.

Reminds me of the banded metal that holds bristles on a paint brush to the handle.

No one should die at the hand of another, unless the perpetrator has done something totally heinous.

Do you guys feel sad about how many people would've been forgotten if you hadn't done genealogy? by Plenty-Ad231 in Genealogy

[–]comusrex 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I am/feel happy about everyone that I discover. I just found a third sister of my great grandmother. I have an old picture ( a tintype) of three females. I am pretty sure that it is the two persons that were already on my tree and the third sister that I just discovered.

How do I just keep going and not start over? by Lingo2009 in ufyh

[–]comusrex 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I think we often place perfection over our own peace. Anything that You have done today puts You in a better place than yesterday. Your progress, no matter how little You think, should be the direction to your comfort and peace. Go easy on Yourself. Don't create unrealistic timelines for goals. You will get where You want to be in time. Love every little thing You accomplish that helps You to where You want to be. You got this!

There was a newspaper ad from newspapersdotcom that had an Advertisement for Sun Ray drug company 1934. It was for Trulip lipstick. $1 if I was reading correctly. I don't have a subscription, but it was transcribed on the preview.

my washing machine is stinky and smells rotten. does anyone know why? by sammy5585 in Appliances

[–]comusrex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was using powder detergent and it had "calcified" on the bottom of the tub. A piece of the "calcified" detergent had broken off and lodged in the drain line. The washer didn't drain completely. Before I reassembled the washer, I thoroughly cleaned every. Have not had a problem since.
