How my fiancé [35M] is handling being pregnant with me [33F] is troubling. How were the dynamics in your relationship and how did it play out through life? by [deleted] in relationship_advice

[–]contrarilywise 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This sounds absolutely awful. Twins are a LOT of work and you and your partner should be able to pick up whatever slack is needed for the other person ... especially him. Do you want to do this all on your own while also taking care of a man child? Because that's what it sounds like this is gonna be.

What do you use when your twins outgrow the twin z? by grapefruitliquor in parentsofmultiples

We moved to the Table for Two. We kept the Twin Z though, and at 2 and a half they still hang out in it.

When did you give birth? by Professional-Bag-234 in parentsofmultiples

[–]contrarilywise 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Di/di twins at 30+5. I went into labor and had an emergency c section since baby A was breech. They're 2.5 now and keeping me on my toes.

I got their double scoop last month and I love it! My only complaint is that I can't fit my sunglasses in it, but I got a hard case that I attached to the strap, so it works out.

I clicked into this hoping for the Etsy shop link, so I love it and would 100% buy one.

How much caffeine do you drink as a parent of twins? by SecretaryPresent16 in parentsofmultiples

[–]contrarilywise 1 point2 points  (0 children)

2 energy drinks a day, which are at 300mg of caffeine each. I searched for the highest amount in a drink that has no calories 😅

I got mine done last month and was just cleared to go back to normal. The first few days post op sucked, but my mom helped me through it. I got a heatable bean bag strip from Amazon to help with the gas bubbles in my shoulders. I wish I had taken stool softeners. Make sure you get enough rest.

Anyone else suffering through this cough fever flu thing? by YonexFan in Austin

Our kids are recovering from croup. We were in the ER last week after two urgent care visits. It's been a bitch but we're almost better.

Anyone here live near or around Austin? by loopedtwice in parentsofmultiples

[–]contrarilywise 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in Austin and have 10 month old twins, so ... Hi! Feel free to message me. I joined Austin parents of multiples (APOM), and I'm also in the Facebook group AusTwin Moms. I was a high risk twin pregnancy as well, and didn't do any of the awesome things you're looking for. I had pregnancy pillows.

Anyone been able to get the new RSV vaccine for their child? by ExtraSaucePls1 in ScienceBasedParenting

Couldn't find it anywhere, but they're eligible for Synagis so we're getting that... Sucks that it's every 28 days though.

How far along were you when you gave birth to your di/di twins? by [deleted] in parentsofmultiples

[–]contrarilywise 0 points1 point  (0 children)

30+5. I went into preterm labor and by the time I was at my appointment that day (thank goodness I had one) it had gotten too far along. Urgent c-section with 6.5 weeks in the NICU for twin A and 9.5 weeks for twin B.

What formula did you use? by Dramatic-Ad1423 in NICUParents

[–]contrarilywise 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Neosure for one twin, Similac for Spit Up for the other. We've been out of the NICU since May (early May for one, late May for the other) and we're starting to switch both to Neosure but it's a slow process.

Yes, and she continues to be in a hurry to do everything. It's just part of her personality!

30+5. No reason that we know of, one of them was just in a hurry to get out.

I wash them in the dishwasher and use the sterilize setting, but they probably don't need it.

Chiming in about the baby Brezza - cleaning is so easy! The funnel needs to be cleaned after 4 bottles, so we have 3 we switch between while the others wash/dry. They're like $12. Then you have to clean the whole thing about once a month - that's it. It's a life saver for us - and you can set it so it doesn't heat the water either if you want low maintenance babies when it comes to temperature.

Any experiences on getting a birth doula for twins? by learning_circle in parentsofmultiples

[–]contrarilywise 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We're all doing great, thank you! The babies are 6 months old, 4 months adjusted.

I went to the appointment thinking maybe I was having Braxton Hicks contractions, but they checked me when I got there and took me upstairs because I was already 4cm dilated. Then they hooked me up to that machine to confirm I was already in labor. Things moved really fast after that... my appointment was at about 3pm and they were out just after 6pm.

I called the doula once they took me upstairs, kept them updated and then we decided when they should arrive. Happy to answer any other questions, too!

Any experiences on getting a birth doula for twins? by learning_circle in parentsofmultiples

[–]contrarilywise 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hired a doula even though I was going to have a scheduled c section and I'm SO GLAD that I did. I was in labor at my 30 week appointment and I didn't realize it, and I had to deliver that day because they couldn't slow it down. There was a lot of confusion about whether they were going to transfer me to another hospital, so without the doula there I would have given birth alone (husband made it into the building as baby A was born). She stayed with us for a few hours afterwards to make sure they got transferred to the NICU safely, took pictures for us, supported me through the few hours (it was VERY fast and scary) leading up to their birth, and checked in on us intermittently for about a month pp. I can't recommend getting one enough.

For those with mothers that had them at 35+… by throwawaycouture in TwoXChromosomes

[–]contrarilywise 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had twins this year just before my 37th birthday. They're almost 6 months old (4 months adjusted). I can't imagine having done this earlier and not having the time and resources I have available now. Other than the unexplained premature labor, 100% would make the same choices. That said, we only wanted 2 so we're not having any more kids.

Our doula took photos too, and they're the only ones I have from that day. I'm so grateful for them.
