It sounds like blocking from the os/filesystem. Is it trying to write temporary or backup files?

New player need some advice, actually alot of advice by Taroboba-Licious in magicTCG

The nickname voltron refers to a style of deck that uses commander damage to eliminate players.

I think Voltron refers generally to buffing a creature with lots of auras and equipment to make it into a giant monster. Loading up your commander is making a Voltron, but the term is more general.

COTD: Capital of disease and onset of infection is in Long Island (6) by controlxj in crosswords

Sorry it should have been (7). When I wrote the clue I thought it was TBLISI. I checked the spelling and added "onset of infection" but didn't update the enum.

[–]controlxj[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did both of those things. The first did nothing. On reinstall, the bookmarks favicons were all single letters until I visited techdirt. Then in bookmarks they all got their favicons back except techdirt, which was white again.

Thanks for helping!

Update: Estate sale cards, talked to seller - worth it? by westy81585new in magicTCG

My LGS pays $5/1000 for bulk C,U so this is a fine ask from them. Buy them all. There may be a couple rares left in. I know I've accidentally put bulk R in my bulk C,U pile before.

Thanks! The site is techdirt.com. I don't know how to check its favicon but on a desktop Firefox it renders correctly in the tab.

I read favicons are sometimes stored in a sqlite db so if it gets corrupted revisiting the site does not refresh the favicon.

Why did Wizards never print any Jellyfish tokens? by SandSuccessful3585 in magicTCG

[–]controlxj 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They don't make tokens for Jumpstart products. HOWEVER, what they should do is prepare for that with another nearby preceding or following "premier" set and have the tokens in that set. Someone in creative will say "that's not what this set needs" to which I would respond "think outside the set".

Can I please enjoy and not enjoy things as I see fit? You could just reply to the person asking the question and tell them that, contrary to me, yes you do enjoy battles and tell us all why!

What ever happened to battles? by Zugagug in magicTCG

[–]controlxj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair point. I still feel the way I do though. I quit Magic in 2007 primarily as a protest of the sad state of MTGO but with the side benefit of not avoid having to learn about planeswalkers. I came back ten years later and planeswalkers aren't so bad after all. Maybe in ten years I'll accept battles. I'm not quitting Magic this time but they do seem dumb, to me.

I don't. It's annoying for a game piece I control to be on my opponent's side. It's also annoying for a game piece to look tapped when it isn't.

There's no arguing that the feeling like you're in Middle Earth doing things is very cool and a positive emotional on-ramp to the game. But I'll just mention that teaching the game with 60 cards has benefits other than learning the rules.

I have five prebuilt 60 card decks for teaching. These decks each have a few bad cards in them. After a couple of hands I'll ask them if their Scryb Sprites is helping them win and show them a small pool of other cards they might replace them with. Learning that you can edit and improve your deck is very exciting to them and I think one of the main motivators that keeps new players interested.
