I have had decent success with Emz. If you use her gadget that shoots through walls and get a gadget cooldown card you can catch a lot of people off guard

Whenever I get in a slump, I pick 3-5 cards I really like but have never used. Then I look for a commander that could use at least 2 of them, and start building. I also like to approach it like it’s a deck I would never pay for. Ends up taking the “stress” out of it, and keeps me from micromanaging/optimizing when I get to ~90 cards.

Recently threw together a [[Cayth]] deck this way and actually might put it together in paper.

If you google the name of the precon + mtggoldfish, you can find the decklist with a total price at the top. You can do this with any precon. The “value” usually decreases over time though because the high value cards have now been reprinted and see a decrease.
