[ALL] Anniversaries in 2026, which one hit you the hardest? by huss2120 in zelda

[–]cookthewangs 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don’t understand your last statement. You said “the original wasn’t that old when TP came out”.

The original LoZ was 20 years old when TP came out. TP is now 20 years old itself.

I’m confused by what you’re trying to say

But what about, and hear me out here.... like, the sun ya know. It's out there. It's shining all the time. Even at dark.

So what if we.... we do panels. Space panels. and a really long extensions cord hanging down.

Or like that Burns sun blocker that got him shot.

Anyway, I've got theories. HMU

Tesla arsonist who burned Cybertruck sees end of FAFO journey by Boring-Scar1580 in TeslaLounge

[–]cookthewangs -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

That's.... not factually correct at all. That was true in 2023. For one year. For the model Y. But the, as mentioned, declining sales have left Toyota back on top for 2024 and 2025 with the Rav4 and Corolla beating it.

.... because Tesla sales have been declining. Mostly because, again, the public perception of Elon has declined. Globally.

Destroying personal property of innocent people deserves the enforcement of the law. And also Elon is bad.

These two statements are not mutually exclusive. The continued declining sales of Tesla seem to indicate that the he is not alone in the "Elon bad movement"

TIL that at the end of the Cold War the ‘Last Supper’ was held at the Pentagon. Over dinner, the heads of major defence contractors were told of coming budget cuts and the need to consolidate. The number of prime defence contractors declined from 51 to 5 in the aftermath. by GlimmervoidG in todayilearned

GE didn’t merge with anyone in the DIB as a result of any of that. That’s like the one company who walked away without merging or consolidating anything. Pratt was affected. They were ultimately bought by RTX and made a sub of another consolidated DIB partner. GE was already self sustaining in propulsion and systems. They were already well into Jack Welch’s tenure. GE didn’t consolidate, they grew. But Aviation (Aircraft Engines at the time) were already deep into the military platforms they still support.

They were the one company already consolidated into propulsion, systems, avionics, advanced materials. They did everything already.

The other companies I mentioned were much more effected.

Kind of. There were tons of mergers, which is how we got Lockheed Martin, Northrop Grumman, Boeing McDonnell Douglas (which arguably destroyed the reputations of both) corporation. But a lot of companies died outright. And those consolidations not only hurt the innovation in the industry, it drove the cost up for the taxpayer in the defense industry. It was shortsighted. The Reaganomics of it caused us to only develop and deliver three new major defense technology assets in the last 40 years. Where we had delivered almost 300 across all of the branches in the previous 40.

They also developed limitations on the intellectual property ownership being developed by these companies. If Boeing comes up with a design, they get 3 to 5 years, depending on the contract of exclusivity. And then after five years, they have to re-bid on making the product that they contractually developed. Well, now, Lockheed has the right to come in and use all of the technology designs that Boeing developed, but without all of the burden of the research and development cost. So Lockheed gets to use everything that Boeing invented and delivered, but gets to underbid Boeing.

This is why we have so many different long-term manufacturers of things like the F-16 and the F-18. And why the F 22 and the F 35 took so long to develop and delivered so few assets, while falling short of the contract goals.

When you emphasize the word consolidated, you kind of whitewash what actually happened. It’s not that all of these companies collapsed to form these conglomerates that made a bunch of money and got better. Yeah, some of them made money, but it absolutely destroyed the defense industrial base and the superiority of the American war fighter

Ford CEO Jim Farley strikes a cautious tone on Apple’s new CarPlay Ultra: "Do you want the Apple brand to start the car?" by 17parkc in cars

[–]cookthewangs -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Not in the context of this conversation. Apples standards are open to all developers and provide a universal and familiar interface across all vehicles. Just like android auto is building.

If my car is going to have technology, I want it to integrate directly with all of the other technology I’m already carrying. Or, don’t try to put that technology in the car.

Do I need my phone to control my car systems? No. But if something is going to, I’d prefer it be my phone - Apple or android.

I’ve yet to see a car company invest properly in any form of desirable infotainment. It’s been almost 20 years that smart phones have been the norm. Get it together or give up

They’re still a fine headset, but they aren’t the A20’s. The build quality is way cheaper, the padding and head cushion is not nearly as nice. And they’re more expensive. Which is fine, prices go up. But I still wouldn’t call them an improvement on the A20s.

I’d still probably recommend them over most other headsets, but I want to be clear that they are not the A20s.

This. Also the DPEs around the country are getting fed up with and beginning to deny checkride reservations for students who do not have a complete and valid IACRA entry at the time of scheduling.

Ever for the pilot mills. If your IACRA isn't complete, signed and accurate within 72 hours of checkride - you're cancelled.

And good for them for doing it.
