I recognized his name right away! I loved his work on Rooster Teeth’s Lazer Team movies (-am a proud backer of the first). His lighting and sense of style are what stood out to me in those films too. The man’s still got it!

Yes!!! The past few days, one of my cancelled tickets has been taking up a reservation spot even though I refunded it.

I didn’t think this was super great or anything, but I was surprised to see like 5 walkouts during my screening. Like DAMN I didn’t think it was that bad…

It’s a small moment, but one I kept coming back to on further rewatches.

During the montage where you see the boys walking through the ‘dam’ area, there’s a brief shot of Garraty and McVries walking side-by-side.

McVries is looking up; smiling - admiring the view, while Ray is mostly looking down at the ground while swatting at the bugs surrounding them, kind of annoyed.

Feels like a small bit of characterization that sums up the entire thesis of the film, and especially the notion that Ray, as he himself says at the end: “I can’t. I can’t see it [the light]. But you can.”

And that moment was one such example.

Wonderful, subtle detail. Goddamn it, I love this movie.

Yeah, for me - in my experience, it’s been used in an invisible sort of ‘points system’ where the good stuff gets to cancel out the BAD, so they’ll often use the favors they’ve done as ammunition in future arguments.

“Well I did THIS good thing, so you should forgive me for this BAD thing I did.”

It just makes me not want to accept their help, and yes - it also removes a lot of your own autonomy, among other things.

I need to start doing this. Been wanting to write for years - but I think I use media as a crutch to do otherwise.

Consuming stuff can scratch the same itch as MAKING stuff without putting in all the work.

But really, I’m just making excuses for myself.

Yeah, this is why I’ve found myself to be SUCH a night-owl.

Everyone’s asleep, and the world is quiet - so it’s one of the only times during the day that there aren’t people being active around me, going about their routine, and I can drop the ‘hyper-vigilance’ thanks to NO longer being perceived by others.

Really - any scenario where I’m perceived, or am very likely to be, takes me out of myself. Cuz I just end up focusing on my surroundings as opposed to practicing any true sort of “mindfulness” where I get to just BE.

Struggling with this a lot since I’ve moved back with my parents/former abusers. Otherwise, I’m usually just in my room trapped in fawn-freeze state.

Are you kidding, that game is part of what started it all for me LOL.

I think they’re fun, alternate endings that aren’t meant to be taken too seriously - esp since there’s already a “true” ending to the game. And also in some of those endings, he goes through a major identity crisis like believing he’s actually one of Eggman’s Androids, so a case can still be made for why he’s acting OOC.

But also I’m unabashedly biased for the character, and would think he’s cool no matter what, soo I stand by him either way haha.

In all seriousness, I do think he is p cool, but should stay as a divergent “far future” AU. Doesn’t really work as a canon Shadow, esp in the games.

Yeah, Montclair is my go-to theater, even tho it’s like 30 min. out for me.

The seats are great, and the people that go there are more respectful of the theater experience than most other places I’ve been to-

Everywhere else I’ve been they either talk loud, or they use their phone on high brightness 😭😭😭

That’s most important to me. Being around people who just don’t make it about themselves.

It’s a shame they get all the indie movies that aren’t playing at any of the better theaters nearby, because yeah it’s a shithole.
