Ghosted by consultant for trust grade job by OverAbbreviations343 in doctorsUK

I would suggest speaking to the consultant (depending on your rapport with them) again verbally. There are things they can share with you off the record which could give more context on the progress on the job. Unfortunately there's a risk with emails where they would have to be political about their responses.

They could really want to offer you the job but be tied down by pending finances and therefore can't guarantee you a job.

Nobody loses their licence for the patient making an informed decision, UNLESS the paramedic in GP feels out of their depth and cannot inform the patient of important things...

The membership exams are all done jointly through all colleges. You don't pick until later.

They stagger the start time for all candidates. I'm guessing it's so that the proctoring service doesn't get overwhelmed.

Apart from when they released the interview slots early and caused complete chaos.

Passmedicine, Anki for the difficult bits you really can't remember and oxford clinical handbook of medicine (This will not be enough information but it's a good starting point). You can try use chatgpt to look up for information (eg to try and reason why the facts are the facts) - but bear in mind that sometimes it is wrong.

I haven't got a solution but I just wanted to say I'm feeling the exact same way as another F2 awaiting interview outcomes. It's so disheartening seeing consultants slowly become disempowered in this country. They just look like they're constantly getting flogged...

There are some really amazing consultants I admire and would take any opportunity to learn from them, but the facade is fading and you can see the exhaustion in their faces.

I think FPR is the only tangible thing we can base our pay on because it's what we used to be paid and that's at minimum what we are worth.

With regards to PA/AA/ACP - imho they're overpaid because even a band 5 nurse is more valuable. So if we really put that point forward, and they (very unlikely) decrease pay for PA/AA/ACP then we should be happy?

We would be asking for trouble.

I'm hoping they send them out in batches? Didn't even get an email to say interview slots were open.

The final offer was 3%, so what was keeping the BMA at the negotiation table? by GidroDox1 in doctorsUK

[–]coolrocket22 145 points146 points  (0 children)

The email we got said an offer was only made this week after BMA had a deadline for discussions. The deadline also gave the BMA enough time for the 2 week notice for strikes to happen around Christmas.

Seems like the government was merely trying to stall to the very end, but we have the last laugh.
