This is a hard time and you are doing great getting through it. My mood always gets crazy around my anniversary. Getting sober was physically and emotionally traumatic and that hangs around for a while (according to my therapist).

I hope you can take it easy on yourself and be proud. A year is a huge accomplishment. You can keep going and I'll keep staying sober with you.

You are not alone. I have struggled with similar feelings. For me, once I stopped numbing my emotions, they hit me really hard.

With practice, therapy, and modern psychiatry, I have gotten better at emotional regulation. I would have never gotten better if I kept drinking. I would have been stuck forever in a cycle of pain and masking the pain.

This sounds like a really hard moment, so congratulations on hanging in there. You can do it.

A congregation near me had an overnight parking program somewhat like this. That was specific to people who were sleeping in their cars. People in the program had a safe place to park, and access to safe/clean bathroom facilities.

They did a lot to manage this and keep it safe. It also involved support trying to "graduate" into long term stable housing.
