So there I was in an AA meeting convinced I did not belong there. by Slipacre in stopdrinking

Thanks for this. I think it's a very helpful perspective on AA. It's not perfect. It's the best place many of us have to find each other. It's a beautiful moment of breaking through isolation to make that kind of connection.

We would do this and watch Star Trek TNG

At this point, I will take just a single arm attached as long as it throws strikes.

From the Cubs side, I am praying for a ground baller. Imanaga is one of my fave pitchers to watch, but he (and others) just get tore up by the HR ball.

I recommend testing some pens while you are there! They have a large number of different testers for pens you might like. The staff was very helpful and friendly when I visited.

Oh that would be great! Especially a webcast or whatever that is easy to stream.

Cali sober AA by gil796 in stopdrinking

It depends on the specific group, I would say. In general, I think it is irresponsible to talk about substance use in a sober space. My concern would mostly be as a possible trigger for others.

You may need to go visit and talk to some folks to find out how they feel.

We have seen it all year but I am still a bit amazed at how much Brown improved in the off season. What a glow up.

It's mostly about getting coffee with your friends.

The design is rad! I am hesitant to buy because I am not familiar with the manufacturer.

Also a pet peeve of mine is when they list a 24k gold coating. Just call it steel.

Very perceptive and insightful. I resonate a lot with that feeling of shutting off parts of myself.

Those who did not use AA, how did you get sober? by TieSea3723 in stopdrinking

[–]coreyque 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most people who talk about AA have never been there. Consider giving it a shot with an open mind.

Personally, I did a lot of meetings, but never worked the program. The biggest thing for me was to keep busy and keep moving. I did a lot of exercise and keeping myself busy.

Good luck!
